Daniel Dubbs Passes Away at 83 in Forest Home

H. B. Dubbs reports the death of Daniel Dubbs at his Forest home aged 83 after a fall two months earlier. Survived by his widow two sons H E Dubbs of Richwood and H E Dubbs of Chicago, a daughter Mana Dubbs at home, and a brother and sister.

Council combines fire engineer and street commissioner roles

Village council resolves to merge the fire department engineer and street commissioner into a single head with a $40 monthly salary and forty cents per hour for street repair work. Special police pay rises to $75 monthly, replacing the prior $80 combined salary for police and street duties.

Stanley Welsh Robbed in Wyoming Post Office

Stanley Welsh, a sales manager for Western States Manufacturing of Sioux City Iowa, was robbed in a Wyoming town post office. A thief snatched his billfold containing 540 dollars in cash and over 500 dollars in mortgages and notes while he stamped letters. His uncle C E Dunlap owns the company.

Residents will receive mail Monday morning December 26 as carriers operate in Richwood. The local post office hours are 9 to 10 a. m. Rural carriers out of Richwood will follow their usual Monday morning routes.

Baptist Team Is Defeated by Marion Business College

The Baptist Five lost 25 to 20 to Marion Business College in a fast contest. Baptist led 6-5 after the first quarter, 11-9 at halftime, and 17-15 after three periods before Marion finished strong with five baskets in the final minutes.

Simeon Fields Dies in Marion Hospital

Simeon Fields aged 75 died at Marion City hospital following an operation five weeks prior for cancer. A lifelong resident of Richwood area, he was a member of Union Baptist church and lived with his nephew Wilton Fields in LaRue. Born August 1, 1852, he was survived by two sisters and a brother, with funeral services held at LaRue district church and burial at the cemetery.
