Richwood tallied three straight wins in a week led by a 13 point third quarter against Radnor and a dominance at Mt Gilead where the Indians struggled in the second half. The reserve teams split results with Richwood edging Radnor late but dropping 33 34 at Mt Gilead.

Elementary School Presents Operetta The Living Christmas Tree

The Richwood elementary school staged a Christmas operetta The Living Christmas Tree Monday night. The program drew large attendance as students performed Christmas music with the Richwood High School band and glee clubs joining seventh and eighth graders in ensemble pieces from various lands.

Fortnightly Christmas Party and Gift Exchange

The Fortnightly Literary Club hosted a Christmas party at Mrs. Opal Darnell’s home on South Franklin. Richwood Man Fire Marshal Gill Named State Fire Marshal

Ray R. Gill 64 of Richwood and president of E. B. Hostetter Co. is named state fire marshal by Governor-elect Thomas J. Herbert. Gill begins Jan 13 when Republicans take over. this marks his third nonconsecutive term. He has long ties in Richwood and across Ohio, and is a noted Republican worker. Gill and his wife are vacationing in California.

Jackson Grange Awards Third and Fourth Degrees

Jackson Grange 2422 met Wednesday evening December 11 in Essex. Worthy Master Ben Fry presided as the degree team conferred the third and fourth degrees on several candidates. The Home Demonstration Agent Mrs Diehl will give a demonstration January 7 in Jackson Township with the place to be announced. Committees were appointed to buy chairs and to organize gift exchanges for Christmas. Next meeting Friday December 27 invites all members and families to bring a 25 cent gift and treats for a Christmas exchange.

Richwood schools qualify for state rehabilitation fund aid

Under a 1945 state program, Claibourne Richwood district will receive about 70 percent of nearly $13 500 in repair and improvement work for the elementary and high school buildings. The project list includes heating upgrades, fluorescent lighting, weatherproofing, interior redecoration, and a new water heater with work timed over Christmas and next summer vacations.
