Richwood tallied three straight wins in a week led by a 13 point third quarter against Radnor and a dominance at Mt Gilead where the Indians struggled in the second half. The reserve teams split results with Richwood edging Radnor late but dropping 33 34 at Mt Gilead.
The Richwood elementary school staged a Christmas operetta The Living Christmas Tree Monday night. The program drew large attendance as students performed Christmas music with the Richwood High School band and glee clubs joining seventh and eighth graders in ensemble pieces from various lands.
Judge R L Cameron grants Spicey L Davis a divorce from A W Davis for gross neglect and cruelty and restores her to maiden Spicey Bennett. Clifton Caryl represents. Kathryn E Burkepile handles Burkepile case for Ainsworth Q Burkepile on cruelty grounds. custody awarded to plaintiff. defendant ordered to pay ten dollars weekly for child support. William Coleman is plaintiff’s attorney. A Christmas program is planned at Claiborne Methodist church on Sunday evening December 22.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union schedules a Friday gathering on December 20 at the First Methodist Church, inviting members to attend.
Richwood Independent Agricultural Society elected five new directors to three year terms: Ralph Vestal Chester Parrott Claude Swartz Ray Fryman and Dana Lowe. Trustees reorganized for 1947 with R B Dildine as president George Battles as vice president and Dana Lowe as secretary treasurer.
The Central Methodist Youth Choir performs a Christmas cantata Come Let Us Adore Him at 8 oclock Sunday evening. The junior choir adds two numbers. Members include Darleen Baldwin Louise Ballinger Patsy Ballinger Marjory Bumgardner Joyce Hamilton Betty Jolliff Veteve Kerns Jane Livingstone Margarete Lyons Rose Emma Lyons Jeanine Meader Anita Mulligan Martha Mulligan Shirley Pittman Anita Shoup Polly Shoup Patty Webb Marjory Winkle Bob Blue Ted Lyons Vic Lyons Tucker Smith Bob Teets Donald Woods. The Fortnightly Literary Club hosted a Christmas party at Mrs. Opal Darnell’s home on South Franklin. Lucille Davis presided and Eletha Rogers performed a Christmas story while Marion Cochran, Lucille Davis, and Opal Darnell sang with Gladys Winter on piano. Members exchanged gifts and enjoyed Christmas refreshments with candlelit trays.
Hiram B. Holdridge leads the Methodist Youth Fellowship in a Christmas caroling event this Saturday December 21 meeting at the church at 7:00. No youth fellowship Sunday night. A Christmas program at Magnetic Springs follows at 8:00 with all welcome.

Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Salisbury hosted Friday night with Rev. L. J. Fugid of Columbus Kentucky and Rev. DeLoss Donham and his wife. Donham serves as pastor of the Richwood Church of Christ.
Ray R. Gill 64 of Richwood and president of E. B. Hostetter Co. is named state fire marshal by Governor-elect Thomas J. Herbert. Gill begins Jan 13 when Republicans take over. this marks his third nonconsecutive term. He has long ties in Richwood and across Ohio, and is a noted Republican worker. Gill and his wife are vacationing in California.

The J. T. Club gathered last Friday at Mrs. Lester Smith’s west of Richwood for a Christmas afternoon. Hostess Mrs Emma Manley assisted with a luncheon after a Christmas exchange and several contests. Invited guests included Mrs. Margaret Mather and Miss Ethel Stallsmith.
The Salvation Army will host a Christmas entertainment on Sunday evening December 22 at 7 30 p m at the church on East Ottawa Street A 2 00 p m Sunday school and a 3 00 p m worship service follow everyone is welcome
The Ever Ready Circle of Central Methodist met at the parsonage Friday afternoon. Vice president Mrs. Elwood led devotionals and oversaw the meeting. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mr and Mrs Clayton P Johnston spent the weekend in the southern part of the state near Logan where they visited Mr and Mrs J C Joh and family and Mrs Ella.

Mr and Mrs James W Davis mark six decades of marriage with a Sunday family dinner and open house at their rural Summersville home They wed December 24 1886 in Liberty township Union county by Rev Stephen Shirk The couple now age 83 and 80 live on the farm where they began housekeeping March 19 1887 They have four sons 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren An invitation is extended to relatives and friends to call
Jackson Grange 2422 met Wednesday evening December 11 in Essex. Worthy Master Ben Fry presided as the degree team conferred the third and fourth degrees on several candidates. The Home Demonstration Agent Mrs Diehl will give a demonstration January 7 in Jackson Township with the place to be announced. Committees were appointed to buy chairs and to organize gift exchanges for Christmas. Next meeting Friday December 27 invites all members and families to bring a 25 cent gift and treats for a Christmas exchange.
V F W Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary members will gather at the Legion home on Friday December 20 at 7 30 p m to fill Christmas sacks for children. Mr and Mrs Harley Salisbury of Toledo were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Clinton Salisbury of North Franklin Street. Miss Genevieve Johnston was a weekend guest at the home of Mr and Mrs Charles Aukland in Marion.
Mrs. Robert Brisker of South Fulton Street has been in Marion City Hospital for treatment and care after admission.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Coe and their son Roger from Mansfield were Sunday guests of Mrs. Mattie Coe and C. O. Wiley and his wife.
Mrs Richard Snowden goes back to Richwood Monday after an extended visit with her daughter Mrs T L Gilley and family in Trabuco Canyon California.
The Claiborne Grange held a regular session led by Worthy Master Glenn Davis. Perry Allen spoke about his work as an instructor in the veterans' agricultural training program at the local school. The next Grange meeting on December 23 will present Juvenile Grange graduation exercises. families are asked to bring cookies.
Under a 1945 state program, Claibourne Richwood district will receive about 70 percent of nearly $13 500 in repair and improvement work for the elementary and high school buildings. The project list includes heating upgrades, fluorescent lighting, weatherproofing, interior redecoration, and a new water heater with work timed over Christmas and next summer vacations.

A fox drive and turkey scramble sponsored by the American Legion and VFW will be held Sunday December 22 with the fox drive starting at 10 30 meeting at the Legion hall. A special meeting was set for December 30 with an oyster round up hosted by the officers wives.

Park Ridge a young farmer was hospitalized for observation and treatment recently. Several visits occurred with neighbors, and livestock farm tasks mentioned. Johnstown residents Melvin Disbennett and Albert Thompson family hosted gatherings while Daisy Warner heals from a thumb infection. Robert Kirby spent days in Columbus. Harold Reed returned home from overseas. Ernest Bumgarner ill near Watkins father of Raymond Bumgartner. Chester Cameron funeral attended by locals at Winter's chapel. Jean Yearsley visited grandparents Bert and Mrs Yearsley. Route 2 residents attended Richwood school program.
