Miss Eva Davis Named One of Four Best Dressed

Miss Eva Davis daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Davis southwest of Richwood and student at Ohio Northern University Ada was chosen as one of four best dressed young ladies at the Junior Prom Saturday. Other honorees were Miss Alice Clelland Martins Ferry Marjorie Conrad Lima and Ann Je Fawcett Ottawa with the queen announced during the event. Over 100 couples attended as Maurice Spitalny and his orchestra provided the music.

Former Leesburg Teacher Dies in Arizona

Leah Van Atta Rowland, 46, a former Leesburg township schoolteacher, died in Phoenix on December 11 after two years of illness. Born July 31, 1889, she married Andrew J. Rowland in 1911. Survived by husband, mother, three children Ralph Earl Jean, three brothers, and a sister. Funeral held in Phoenix with burial there.

Christmas Party Enjoyed by Martha Washington Circle

The Martha Washington Circle held its annual Christmas party at Mrs. J. S. Matteson's North Franklin street home. A covered dish noon meal followed by a program led by president Mrs. Myrtle Waterman featured songs and readings. Santa Claus distributed candy and gifts, ending with Silent Night, making the day a joyous occasion.

Odd Fellows Hold Reguar Meeting and Plan New Year Event

Richwood merchants sponsor a townwide home decorating contest with prizes of 10, 5, 3, and 2 dollars. All residents inside Richwood city limits may enter. Three non resident judges will view each home Monday evening December 23 from seven to nine. Prizes awarded after judging in front of the W C Jacobs building.

Shower honors Donna Beeman before Christmas wedding

Mrs. W. M. Keller and Mrs. W. E. Beeman with Ruth Beeman attended a Tuesday night shower in Columbus for Donna Beeman who will marry on Christmas Day. The event was hosted by Beeman's coworkers at the office and held at Evelyn T. McDonald's home with Bertha Wetzel assisting.

Car Skids Into Ditch Near Agosta After Meeting

T H Konkle of Marion escaped injury when his car skidded into a ditch two miles west of Agosta about 11 30 p m Thursday while returning from an Eastern Star meeting at LaRue. The vehicle suffered minor damage.

Telephone Co. Buys Kagay Lot for Automatic System

The Ohio Associated Telephone Co. purchased the Kagay lot on Clinton street behind the Shell station and will begin a one story brick fireproof building after the new year. They will install a purely automatic system and remove cables and poles from the business section with one cable crossing on Franklin street. Service is expected to be in use by July 1 with no interruption.

Euchre Club Meets at Fravel Home Social

Friday Euchre gathering at Mrs. C. O. Fravel’s home featured Mrs. Fred Cramer as assistant hostess. Mrs. Robert Mather won high score for the ladies and Archie Cramer led the men. A luncheon was served.

The Reserve class of the M. P. Sunday school met at Mrs. Mildred Webb's home last Thursday afternoon. Samuel A. Hoskins 72 vice president of the Columbus Mutual Life Insurance Co died Wednesday night at Mt. Carmel hospital Columbus after a December 2 ice fall broke his leg. Born Magnetic Springs March 5 1883 he served as Ohio Northern University trustee and president of that board and practiced law in Wapakoneta and Auglaize county prosecutor 1901 07. Daughters of Union Veterans Hold January Chapter Meeting

William R. Walker Dies of Pneumonia at 76

William R. Walker of Richwood area died Sunday at ten after a two week pneumonia illness. Born October 24, 1859 in Sunbury, he married Lydia Jane James on December 6, 1885. Surviving are his wife, daughter Mrs. Frank Brown of Yonkers, N Y, son Pearl Walker of Bellepoint, and sister Mrs. Bern Rittenhouse of Ostrander. Funeral was in Winter chapel with burial by Lloyd Winter & Son.
