Will be Good Now. Bert Ogden Arrested in Meter Dispute

Bert Ogden was arrested after an assault on George P. Zwerner over placing an electric light meter in the Eagles rooms above Shetterley’s restaurant. Zwerner opposed the meter in the hall. Ogden claimed the right to place it where he wished and later threatened Zwerner, leading to a peace bond issued by Justice Kennedy.

Divorce Granted in Richwood for Malissa Heenan

Mrs Malissa Heenan of Richwood was granted a divorce Saturday by Judge Brodrick from her husband Charles Heenan now of Columbus on the grounds of willful absence. They wed April 11 1900 and have a 6 year old daughter for custody.

Two Drunks Fined in Marysville Incident

Nathan Gordon and James Eagin of Oroville were intoxicated in Marysville last Wednesday. Officer Liggett ordered them home twice. they entered another man's rig and resisted, leading to arrest. Mayor Hamilton fined each $1 plus costs.

Left With Bad Reputation Linked To Two Men Returning

W. J. Mahon and H. O. Kimmell, who traveled to El Paso Texas, returned home last week. Mahon paused in Chicago seeking work and plans to reside in Toledo with his wife. A former mail carrier, he went to Texas for a job printing post but high living costs made the wages insufficient. He left many unpaid bills and creditors attached his goods.

The suit over mining claims in Arizona advances to the Supreme Court as defendants Hoopes and Robinson appeal the ruling against George W. McGhee. The case centers on a $17,000 sum for a claimed communion in sale of mining rights.

Marysville High Celtics open season with win over Milford Center

Marysville High defeated Milford Center 45 to 14 at Woodstock Friday evening in the season opener. Porter Demorest and Harris led the scoring for Marysville while Milford Center’s lineup showed solid effort but lacked the quickness of the home team. A large crowd attended as Marysville announced a fast squad and an ambitious schedule.

Mrs Thompson Dies After Typhoid Illness At Home

Mrs. William Thompson aged 33 died at her home on West Third Street after a six week typhoid illness. A Swiss native who moved with her parents to Canton Ohio, she married Mr. Thompson in 1893. Survived by husband and four children the youngest a one year old ill with typhoid. Funeral held in Methodist church with Maccabee lodge aid, burial in Oakdale. Rev Harford preached.

One Hundred Working on Milk Plant

Workmen completed the foundation for the milk plant smoke stack. The 135 foot brick tower starts as twelve feet square at the base and will cost $7000. Total plant cost about $130,000 with many farmers visiting the site.

Council Passes Resolution At Thursday Meeting

The council met Thursday evening and approved a resolution. The action follows an earlier announcement and sets forth the plan or policy under consideration.

City Council Raises Salaries and Approves Street Paving

The council approved raises for clerk from 300 to 500 dollars and treasurer from 250 to 300 dollars. Donkright objected to mayor salary rise and clerk increase, blocking passage without his vote as only five members were present. Measures passed under suspension of rules, including a grade ordinance and Walnut street improvement to be paved from Fourth to Eighth, starting early spring. Paving contracts awarded to F M Kemp & Sons of Middletown Ohio for west Seventh Street and east Sixth Street, with work to begin after April first. Street commissioner to collect 2 dollars from each property owner on west Fourth Street with cement driveways. unpaid sums to be added to tax duplicate. Executives and committee members named include Loughrey, J W Southard, David Danforth, and others.

Farmers Institute Hears Condensed Milk Plant Address

The annual Union county farmers institute met in the opera house with strong attendance. J. Baldwin and J. F. Gordon spoke, but John Wilds of Highland Ill presented facts on a new condensed milk plant. He is a principal stockholder and outlined care for cows and milk handling with price forecasts. Resolutions favored local option and urged leaders to support it in the General Assembly.
