Tigers Fall to Byhalia 50 46 in Tight Monday Contest

Richwood's Tigers stumble as Byhalia rallies in the final quarter to win 50 to 46. Poor offense and officiating slow the Tigers who then rebound with a 79 47 victory over Cardington, though Cardington’s team is described as weak. Oman leads Richwood with 137 points across seven games.

Beautiful Nativity Play Sunday A M at Baptist church

A Nativity play There Was One Who Gave A Lamb will be performed Sunday morning December 21 at 9 45 by the Baptist church school children. Cast includes Ann Perkins Steven Robinson Donnie Pittman and Beth Morrison with a chorus. The program ends with Silent Night and a candle lighting service by Mrs Esta Sanders. Athletic Club and High School Share 6-1 Record

The Ricwood AC basketball team matches the high school team with six wins and one loss. They beat CIO 44 to 41 at Kenton in a 12 team league, with other wins by wide margins. Only loss came to Eagles Lodge of Kenton 41 to 38. Players include Chapman Cheney John Cheney Fish Griffith Houk Milligan Oman Shields Wiley. Next game is December 29 at 8:30 against Hartley and Nicholls of Bellefontaine.

Central Methodist W S C S Christmas Program

The Central Methodist church W S C S met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Virginia Schmeltzer in charge. Devotions by Mrs. Hazel Teets opened with Love Divine, then Holy Night and a Matthew reading, ending with Hark the Herald Angels Sing and prayer. Sixteen members attended and a missionary speaker was voted for January. The program led by Mrs Eva Prettyman included It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, readings The Little Inn and Days Until Christmas, solo by Mrs Rachel Erwin, readings The Angels and World Brotherhood, Bible questions by Mrs Ellen Kinney, and The First Noel.

Charles Brobeck Stricken With Light Polio at Columbus Hospital

Pleasant High School coach Charles Brobeck, a former Richwood teacher and John Ivan Brobeck's brother, is hospitalized in Columbus with a light polio case. His left ankle is the main issue though he can move his legs. doctors expect a ten day update.

Essex School Christmas Program At Local Church

Essex School presented a Christmas program at the church last Friday December 12 directed by Mrs Opal Daley and teachers with lighting by her husband. The event drew a large crowd and featured songs plays and a cantata performed by 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th graders. The program opened with Silent Night and concluded with A Trial Santa Claus versus Christ Child. Also noted is the birth of a daughter to Dr and Mrs Daniel G Tanner at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit on December 14 1952.

Circle of Samaritans Met at Methodist Church

The December Circle of Samaritans meeting at First Methodist opened with prayer led by the president. Mrs. Miller spoke on Good Tidings of Great Joy and readers performed devotional pieces. Gifts were planned for the sick and shut-ins, with donations due at morning worship on December 21. A pot-luck is set for January and new member Mrs. Durbin was welcomed.

Fortnightly Literary Club gathered December 11 at Mrs. Aaron Darnell's home with 25 members and two associates. Reading prose and poetry on Christmas, the program featured Elsye Sater and Margaret Cousins works, songs by Aaron Durnell, and a gift exchange with refreshments.

Jackson Grange met December 8 with Mabel Debolt presiding and seven officers present. The National Grange service contest certificate was read and an appreciation from the Ehre family acknowledged. Next meeting set for January 14. Audrey Bevis led safety sayings and questions from the Ohio driver manual. Pauline White read If Every One and Mabel Debolt spoke on Is Your Home Safe to Live In. Summersville Friends Aid Society Hosts Christmas Meeting

Mrs Lelah McMahan and Mrs Mary McMahan entertained the Summersville Friends Aid Society at the former's home on December 3. Hallie Jordan led carols, Ida Decker read the 112th Psalm, and Olive Shupe read from the Bible. Fifteen members answered roll call with eleven guests present and a gift exchange enjoyed. An all day January meeting with pot luck dinner at Hazel Hall was planned. Brownies conducted Christmas gift work and will hold a Christmas exchange. Colleen Pittman, reporter.

Richwood School Girl Injured in Auto Accident

Miss Shirley Yoakum 14 of Richwood sister of a Richwood High teacher was seriously injured when a car skidded on gravel near Radnor Thursday night. She remains in Jane Case Hospital with head cuts a broken collarbone and other injuries. Cooper and McNeal both treated at the same hospital.

Richwood Youth Caroling Tour With Local Churches

Richwood youths from First Baptist First Methodist Central Methodist and Church of Christ join with Richwood High School for a Christmas caroling tour. They meet at Rev Roy Farringers home at 7 00 PM travel the village in a truck provided by Richard Sidle with church support and refreshments served after at First Methodist church.

Union County Sesquicentennial Board Elected at Richwood Meeting

Richwood residents attended the Union County Ohio Sesquicentennial executive board meeting on December 8 at the Dinner Bell in Marysville. Officers elected were Mayor Robert Eastgate Vice Chairman Carol Davison Secretary and Dr Nicholas Goche Treasurer. The pageant Progress Through the Years is slated for Marysville fair nights with plans to coordinate county participation.
