North Union School Board Sets 1971 72 Plans And Policies
The North Union Board of Education met in regular session at the high school approving a Nature Club under the Science Department with Robert Tuttle as advisor, the Young Farmers Program for 1971 72 with Harold Karcher as instructor, and the hiring of Rose Ann Taylor as half day Kindergarten teacher at Magnetic Springs plus a primary Special Education teacher funded by Title I starting Feb 1 1972. A new policy places hourly workers on a pay period from the 20th to the 20th, salaries are adjusted by experience, and a Beginning Bus Drivers Training Class will begin the week of March 13. The board also authorized junior and senior high Special Education units, approved more Title III ESEA funds for equipment, and referred a past storm damage at Claiborne Elementary to insurance for repair and restoration of clock and bell systems. Early Christmas dismissal was approved and the Right to Read program set for Jan 21 with elementary dismissal at 1 30 pm. A reapportionment enables borrowing to finish 1971 expenses, and a Gateway Vocational School organizer will be appointed via the district Citizens Committee.

Adult Ceramics Classes Added to North Union Program
Superintendent Bill Stephan announces ceramics will be included in this year's Adult Education offerings. A Saturday morning class begins January 8 from 10 to 12 at the Richwood Civic Center 235 Grove St. Cost is 1 per child per session for 10 weeks plus extra for materials. Two adult ceramic classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7 30 to 9 30 at the Civic Center with registration through the high school or Mrs Woods. Instructor is Mrs Hornbeck of Green Camp.

Driver Loses Control in Two-Car Crash West of Richwood
