Mrs. L A Eubanks 67 a Magnetic Springs resident and Columbus observer dies likely Saturday in Elsie Janis cottage on High Street Columbus. Attorney James Loren found her body in an upper room with a diary noting heart pains and a note that she planned to travel to Magnetic Springs. Funeral arrangements made with E J Fisher Co and burial in Delaware after a Columbus service.

Local Bell employee resigns to join coast artillery

Wilfrid Snyder, longtime Bell Telephone worker in Joplin Missouri, resigned recently to enlist in the coast artillery of the United States. He will be stationed at Jefferson Barracks to study signal corps and will be assigned to a post permanently once trained.

Seventy fifth Birthday Celebrated at Richwood Home

Patternton Livingston marked his seventy fifth birthday at his West Bomford Street residence yesterday, December 15. Born in Coshocton county, he moved to Richwood at age three and has lived there since. His wife passed away recently. Livingston remains active and grateful for longevity, telling the Gazette editor he thanks the good Lord for life.

Adams and Rider couple wed in private Richwood ceremony

On last Sunday at nine o'clock PM in Richwood, Jesse J. Adams and Grace Rider were married by Rev. Stover at the bride’s home. The private ceremony was attended only by immediate family and a few relatives. The groom will live in Richwood with his grandmother Mrs. Rose, and the newlyweds have the best wishes of all.

Richwood Youth Convicted in Bootlegging Case

Chas Stout of Richwood, 19, was found guilty by a federal grand jury in Columbus for bootlegging in Union County. He received a discharge on promise not to reoffend after admitting to selling 70 cents worth of whiskey. Prosecutors noted harsher penalties would have applied in Union County.

New Industry Brings Evaporated Corn Trade To Richwood

E B Hostetter of Lititz Pennsylvania arrived in Richwood to promote corn culture and a new evaporated sugar corn process. He offers eight hundred dollars per ton for green corn snapped from the stalk, estimates four tons per acre and says the factory will employ about twenty workers, operating day and night all season. Husk and stalks will feed cows and other stock, boosting milk production and local profits.

Help Richwood children for Christmas gifts

The Gazette Republican asks Richwood residents to send care packages to the Union County Children's Home. Twenty four children—seventeen girls and seven boys—will receive gifts placed on the Christmas tree and distributed at a Christmas entertainment. Packages must arrive by Wednesday evening December 22 at the Gazette office, with senders' names on the containers.

Indicted youths from Richwood and Bowling Green face counterfeiting charges

Walter W. Lake, a Richwood OSU student, and George H. Reed of Bowling Green were indicted by a Toledo federal grand jury. They allegedly forged counterfeit quarters after working at Hotel Victory in Put in Bay where slot machines drew them in and cost them wages. Their hearing is set for next week. Local supporters in Richwood vow to aid Lake, noting his prior good record.

Good Hogs Sold by Cheney in Jackson Township

Cheney, near Richwood in Jackson township, sold 129 head of hogs to Jonah Blue for $2,421.50. The hogs averaged 235 pounds and brought Se per pound. Cheney is noted as a leading Union county farmer with consistently good hogs to sell.

Entertain at Colonial Hotel by Lyons and Winters

Mr and Mrs W H Lyons and Mr and Mrs F L Winter and daughter Miss Selah entertained guests to dinner Sunday at the Colonial Hotel. The group included Mr and Mrs F H King, Mr and Mrs D H Harvey and daughter Miss Hazel, Miss Peters and Dr Sonnestein, all of Marion. In the evening they hosted supper and then visited the Winters home on South Franklin Street.

Mrs Alexander Injured After Ice Fall

Mrs. Robert Alexander of east of Essex fell on ice last Monday morning and broke her right leg between knee and ankle. Dr Shuey of Prospect reduced the fracture. Her son John Alexander and family of Columbus came to help and returned home yesterday evening.

Colonal Hotel Sold for Boots and Dry Goods Purchase

F B Carmean traded the Colonial Hotel in Richwood for boots shoes and dry goods with F W Liggett of Montpelier Ohio. The stock worth about 8000 to 10000 will be closed out at Montpelier with clerks from Marysville and Carmean's son Mack. An invoice began last Tuesday.
