Former Richwood Man Dies in Marion

Michael J. Hannegan, 69, a former Richwood resident now living in Marion for 22 years, died December 7 at 9:45 am from heart trouble. Survived by widow, three sons Norbert James Herbert and daughter Mae. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Catholic church with burial in Marion Catholic cemetery.

Frances Welch Dies After Sudden Heart Attack

Mrs Frances Welch wife of P B Welch died Tuesday night near Pharisburg after a sudden heart attack. She was born November 10 1866 near Pharisburg and survived by her husband three children six grandchildren eight great grandchildren three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1 30 pm at the home conducted by Rev Harry Wickins with interment at Oakdale cemetery Marysville.

Richwood High Earns League Honors In Football Selections

Richwood High School received multiple Heart of Ohio League recognitions as Supt. W E Beeman was elected president and Principal W R Hill secretary. Fred Snyder earned first team left guard with Moore Murray adding second team honors and Kagay receiving honorable mention for the 1933 squad.

William LeMasters was added to the list of local high school students chosen for the all state chorus. The chorus will meet in Columbus on December 27 and 28.

Richwood High School Basketball Team Defeated

The Richwood team opened the season at Marysville last Friday and lost 36 to 11. Lineup included Weller LeMasters Mc Mahan Kagay Shuman Magrew Gardner and Foos. The next games were scheduled for Raymond Wednesday and Magnetic Friday.

Auto accident victims recovering near Marion

Mrs. E. R. Mulvaine and her daughter Betty Lou are improving after their car was struck by a truck near Marion. No bones were broken but they suffered from the shock. Mrs. Mulvaine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Parish of Richwood.

Marion Woman Ad Dresses Missionary Group

Mrs Grace Parlette Sifritt of Marion was guest speaker at the Foreign Missionary Society of the M E church Christmas meeting held at Mrs J P Brooks home on North Clinton street. The program included hymns readings vocal solos and a piano solo. Out of town guests included Mrs William Tracy Mrs William Guthery and Mrs N Sifritt.

W. W. G. Girls Meet at Dunn Home in December

The W. W. G. Girls of the Baptist church met at Mrs. B. E. Dunn’s home on Tuesday evening December 5. Mary Oman led the program. Annabel Price sang a solo. Ten members and three visitors attended. Contests were enjoyed and a delicious lunch was served by the hostess.

Union Co 4-H Club Honored at Cleveland Livestock Show

Union County 4-H members entered multiple Angus calves at the Cleveland Livestock Show winning honors. The reserve champion, Black Diamond, an 840 pound calf shown by Robert C. Hall of Peoria, sold for 25 cents a pound. Paul Taylor of Marysville showed a third place Angus, while Hall also took fifth. Isabelle White and Erwin White of Urbana took tenth and eleventh with Clover Nook bred calves from J H Schmeltzer Green Camp Essex road. Miss White won the best steer cup.

Missionary Group Meeting of M. P. Church

The Missionary Society of the M. P. church met at Mrs. Reuben Hatcher’s home north of town last Friday afternoon. President Mrs. Minnie White led the session with prayers, and members shared papers on Pine Ridge school, Old People's home, and the Children's home. A reading titled Silk Purses was given by Mrs. Della Phelps, with study review by Mrs. Esther Fisher. A social hour and lunch followed, served by Mrs. Hatcher with helpers Mrs. Blanche Snowden and Mrs. Carrie Craig. Guests included Mrs. Carl Randall and others.

Many Men Register Under C W A At Marysville Court House

Under the C W A program 1070 men have registered for work at the Court House in Marysville. There are 208 men employed on six projects. County Commissioners and Allen Slade state highway engineer are pursuing several other projects that will provide more employment soon.

Arnold Van Atta and family near Pharisburg hosted a farewell reception Friday evening for about one hundred relatives and friends. They plan to move this week to a new home east of Claiborne. Refreshments were served as neighbors wished them happiness.

First Real Snow of the Season Hits City Streets

Sunday the first real snow of the season fell and remains on the ground. Sidewalks and streets are icy causing pedestrian and auto trouble. Temperatures near zero Sunday night and Monday, moderating Tuesday afternoon and pleasant Wednesday. Merchants report strong holiday trade and visible Christmas displays for all ages.

Christmas Program to Be Held December 22

Jackson Grange met Friday evening December 8 with 50 members present. New officers were elected, including lecturer Mrs. Leo Grindell Pomona Eloise Frye Ceres Edna Kater Matron Mrs. Starling Barker and Miss Elizabeth Hoffman and Miss Rachel Barker. Games and entertainment were enjoyed. Doughnuts and coffee were served. The next meeting December 22 will feature lecturer Mrs. Ralph White presenting a Christmas program.

The Christian Endeavor society of the M. P. church held a party at the home of Miss Helen Bowers Monday night. About twenty young people attended with games and social time. Refreshments were served.

The Church of Christ Aid Society met at Mrs. Louis B. Snyder’s home and elected officers for the coming year. President was Mrs. R. R. Gill, with Mrs. Nona Boda as vice president, Mrs. F. A.
