Mrs. Leila Chapman known as Grandma Chappy was honored on her 89th birthday by the Happy Tyme Club at the Hamilton farm near Richwood. She has lived near Richwood with daughter Fern Wiley since her husband Charles Chapman’s death and remains active with WSCS Martha Washington Circle Rebekah Lodge and Pythian Sisters.

Anna Dunn 83 Dies at Hillside Rest Home Marion
Anna Mary Dunn 83 of Route 3 died December 7 at Hillside Rest Home Marion after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Ward Griffith born in Radnor September 12 1880. She married Charles William Dunn July 29 1900 in Claiborne and he survives. Funeral services were held December 10 at her residence with Rev. William Hayden and burial at Radnor. Winter Funeral Chapel arranged. Survivors include her husband one sister Mrs Addie Parish Route 3 and several nieces and nephews. One sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Members of Baccarat Post 40 in Richwood join hundreds of Ohio American Legion posts to raise funds for Gifts for the Yanks Who Gave. The eleventh annual drive supports state hospitals six VA facilities and Sandusky Soldiers and Sailors Home with nearly $30,000 in gifts and activities. Contributions to Gifts for Yanks may be sent to Robert Stout in Richwood.

Bomeli Receives PhD From Michigan State University
Edwin C. Bomeli of Somersville earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Michigan State University at East Lansing ceremonies on December 6. He teaches accounting at Bowling Green State University, chairs its Department of Accounting since 1960, and serves on Cain's Marcello Potato Chip Co. board. He is a CPA in Ohio and Indiana and an ordained Christian minister.

Two Small Boys, Father Shot To Death Near Here
Harold McClain age 38 of Route 3 Richwood killed his two sons Dennis 8 and Roger 6 then shot himself. Sheriff Amrine found the bodies after the boys failed to return to their mother in Marysville. The family had been separated about a month and lived on Neal Road south of Richwood. The boys attended Magnetic Springs school and visited their father monthly. Mrs McClain works nights at L and K Restaurant Delaware. No motive is known.

He was a first grade student at Leesburg Magnetic Elementary School. Survivors include his mother maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Grover Williams and maternal great grandmother Mrs Clara Selders of Ashland. Private funeral services will be held today at 10 30 a m at the Ballinger Funeral Home with Rev Rodney Burk officiating. Burial will be at Maple Dell Cemetery near Magnetic Springs.

A small grass fire was extinguished Friday by Richwood Fire Department near Tawa Road around 2 30 PM possibly started by a cigarette. A second, similar fire occurred Saturday about 5 PM with no damage and a burning stump thought to cause it.
