Summersville Fire Burns Albert McGinnis Seriously

Albert McGinnis suffered severe burns at his Summersville home when his clothing caught fire. A passerby extinguished the flames after his cries drew attention. Reports also note a Marion county marriage and local milling developments, plus the death of Michael Cramer.

AID Society Meets at Harris Home

The Ladies Aid Society of the Church of Christ gathered at Mrs. J. B. Harris home for an all day Christmas event. Santa visited, a pot luck lunch was shared, and a program of carols followed. Fourteen members attended with two visitors and nine children present. Officers elected for the year: president Mrs. Oscar Woodard vice president Mrs. J. B. New Richwood Library Moves to Overhauled Bank Building

The Richwood Public Library Association has completed renovations on the former First National Bank building, making it a suitable home for Richwood's library. The move is underway this week and the library will reopen in its new quarters on Monday, December 14.

Walter Hartman New Fair Board President

The Richwood Tri County Fair Company held its annual election on December 5 at Hotel Villa. Eleven candidates competed to select five directors with J. S. Matteson O. E. Stout R. B. Dildine and E. E. Drumm chosen for three years and C. H. MecWilliams for two. The board reorganized December 8 with Hartman as president Matteson as vice president Stout as secretary and D. K. Davis as treasurer. Delegates to the Ohio Fair Boys convention are Hartman and Stout.

Mrs Elizabeth Matteson Heads Relief Corps

The W R C met in the G A R hall with three new initiates. Officers elected include Eliza beth Matteson as president S V Minnie White J V and Minnie Fisher as treasurer Neva Harger chaplain Mary Clark conductor Sylvia Worden guard and appointive officers to be named later. The corps plans Christmas donations to Madison Sandusky and Xenia homes and will host a December 13 exchange dinner at Elizabeth Glassmeyer home. The next meeting is December 22.

Amanda Mather Celebrates Eightieth Birthday in Union County

Mrs. Amanda Mather, pioneer resident of Jackson Township, was honored with a surprise dinner on December 6 at the Fulton Creek home of Mr. and Mrs. Morton Mather. Four generations were represented, with 80 candles on a large birthday cake. Attendees included family from Magnetic Springs, North Lewisburg, Richwood, Marysville, Radnor, Claiborne, and other areas, and a musical program accompanied the celebration.

Gale Emerson McCombs 11 of Marion died Saturday December 5 at his home after a six week illness. Born August 2 1925 in Marion he was son of Roy and Olah McCombs. Embroidery Club Entertained Friday at Cushman Home

The Embroidery club and invited guests gathered Friday afternoon at Mrs. J. M. Cushman’s home for needle work and social time. Assistant hostess was Mrs. I. G. Zuspan. Lunch was served. Cycle of Life Pageant Presented by Carpe Diem Club

The Carpe Diem club met at Mrs. H. M. Carpenter’s home on December 3. Group four led the program with Cycle of Life, a script by Mrs. Howard Drake, narrated by Mrs. Drake and featuring soloist Mrs. Forest Lewis. Eagles Lodge Amateur Show for Shoe Fund

A charity amateur show at Marysville High School auditorium on Thursday night December 17 supports the Eagles Shoe Fund for needy children. Del-Mar Aerie of Eagles sponsors the event with proceeds funding Christmas shoe distribution. Former resident Pearl Everhart dies in Upper Sandusky

Pearl Everhart widow of Jay Everhart of Upper Sandusky died Wednesday morning December 3 after a long sugar diabetes illness at the home of Mrs. Ada Henry. Surviving are son William Everhart and a grandson, both of Upper Sandusky, a half sister Effie Zimmer, a brother Joseph Jones near Richwood, and a sister at Green Springs. Both she and her husband once worked at the Gazette office. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Gringman Co. funeral home with Rev. M. J. Temple officiating. Burial followed at Upper Sandusky cemetery.

Double Funeral Held Monday for Dicks and Wife

Harry O. Dicks 62 of Marion died Friday of angina pectoris. His wife Elka Carson Dicks 60 committed suicide by carbolic acid in the basement. Both held at Curtis funeral home with interment in Marion cemetery.

Visits at Kramer Home Highlight Recovery Progress

Visitors at the C. H. Kramer home Sunday included Elmer Woodard and son from London, Pearl Kramer, Freda Weller from Columbus, Paul Kramer and Dorothy Woodard from Delaware, George Kramer from Green Camp, and Charley and Mrs. Davis from Richwood. Mr Kramer has been seriously ill but is slowly improving.

Moore Family Silver Wedding Anniversary Held in Marion

G W Moore and his wife celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in Marion on Sunday. Attended by daughter Bernice and Mr and Mrs H B Earick, the couple renewed their marriage vows before a dinner. George Moore Sr performed the ceremony and presented a ring. A five tier silver cake and a three layer frozen cream cake highlighted the celebration.
