A new I O O F band made its debut on Tuesday night and plans to play only for lodge events. Six brick loads from Zanesville arrived last week for local street improvements on West Fifth street.

Enlistment of Lute Newlove in the Marines

Lute Newlove son of ex Marshal John Newlove has enlisted in the United States Marines and is stationed at the Marine barracks in Washington. He is expected to be sent to the Isthmus of Panama to assist in international difficulties. He served in the Spanish War and was a servant in Company E, 4th O. N. G. He was assigned to post one of the first four drilled men, received arms and clothing, and has enlisted for four years.

Rogers Taken Home in Illness at City Hospital

Rogers a Taylor township resident long known in the area was removed Friday from the city hospital to his home in an ambulance. His condition is described as very serious with little hope of recovery and he is under care of a trained nurse from the hospital.

Wellwood Charged With Grand Larceny Is Discharged

Ernest Wellwood son of William Wellwood of Byhalia was arrested last week and sent to Bellefontaine to face grand larceny charges. Represented by Hon. D W Ayers and W T Hoopes, he was discharged. His father had posted 1500 for his debts. He ran a Bellefontaine saloon moved to West Mansfield, then fled with a note. Davis held on him for a horse and he asked Davis to witness the note and promised payment.

Pythian Anniversary Observance and Lodge Elections

The Knights of Pythias local lodge announces a February 19 anniversary observance with a general meeting and invitations to prominent Knights statewide. A grand lodge count of votes for officers will occur at the fourth Monday in January, with a committee set to entertain visitors. Kinkade Announces Candidacy For Circuit Court Judge

J H Kinkade enters race to succeed Judge James Day of Celina. Democratic district likely to nominate him with strong odds of election in November. Kinkade has been mayor of Marysville and currently city solicitor. A campaign committee including F A Thompson and others will manage the bid.

Justice Garrard's court records an appeal in Henry Lee versus Solomon Turner. Lee seeks $73.50 damages after two of Turner's dogs killed 21 of Lee's 22 sheep on May 9, 1903. Miller Family Return to Richwood After Long Wisconsin Trek

Amos Miller and son Alonzo of Richard county Wisconsin returned to Richwood last week with their niece Miss Almeda Miller. They traveled in a two horse covered wagon taking twenty seven days on the road. Mr Miller has made the trip two or three times and says he always enjoys it.

Obituary of Jane Howard Vestal of Richwood Ohio

Jane Howard Vestal born August 21 1824 Mechanicsburg Champaign county died November 25 1903 Columbus Ohio at 89 years 3 months 4 days. She was a teacher in common schools and a devout M E church member since age twelve. She married Marshall Vestal in 1855 later lived with son Thomas R Vestal and daughter Mrs Mary Carter and had 20 grandchildren. She was known for poetry and prayer and journeyed with her husband to the new Jerusalem.
