The tenth Pace Setters Corn and Soybean Awards Banquet at Fairbanks High School featured toastmaster Dr. Robert Schery and speaker Dean Roy M. Kottman on agriculture’s role in Union County’s economy. James Mitchell won the rotating corn trophy for the third time with 175.8 bushels per acre, plus the Area III efficiency award. Other area winners included Richard Leeper, Russell Lowe, and David Rausch with their respective yields and efficiency gains. A driverless car rammed the marble frontage of Richwood Banking Co last Friday morning causing minor damage.
