Albert Dilsaver a well known Richwood man takes poison on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday death follows quickly authorities report a tragic suicide on the eve of the annual feast day in Richwood local residents react with shock and mourning
Albert Dilsaver a well known Richwood resident died after swallowing strychnine last Wednesday. Despondent over life and fear his daughter would miss Thanksgiving he returned home ill after a Detroit visit. Funeral held at Bethlehem church with burial in Claiborne cemetery. survivors include widow three children and siblings.
The Tom Thumb wedding at the Presbyterian church Tuesday evening drew a good crowd. Little Miss Lucile Payne and Master Giles McDaniel posed as bride and groom. The couple wed by Minister Lewis Roebuck, followed by a reception and refreshments.
County Commissioner A. T. Coons and his son Herbert left Milford Center on a corn special tour to New York Philadelphia and Washington. Herbert Coons won second honors in the county corn growing contest and earned this free trip as a prize. Only four trips are awarded in the county making it a notable honor for him.
Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Horn and daughter Ernestine of Plain City were guests last week of Mrs. Horn’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Talmage.
Union Thanksgiving services were held at the M P church in Richwood Thursday evening last week. Rev B H Payne of the Baptist church delivered the address. He was assisted by Rev J E Bailey J R Lloyd J E Hawes and O L Curl. Music by the M P choir included a duet by J G and Gomer Prichard.
Richwood High School defeated Marysville High School 18 to 0 at Marysville. Key plays included long end runs by Adams and G Woods, with Griffith Harrison and Adams delivering standout performances for Richwood.
An earthquake shook central Japan on Wednesday collapsing houses in Kobe Ohaka and Kyoto. The Kyoto station fell and many people were injured by collapsing walls and roofs.
Three Marysville banks compete for county funds for three years starting January 9 1916. The inactive fund goes to Union Banking Company at 4.761 percent, with Marysville Banking Company and Commercial Savings Bank at 4.75 percent. The active fund is split between Commercial Savings Bank 4.25 percent, Bank of Marysville 4.25 percent, and Union Banking Company 3.52 percent.
Colonel Fisher estate fight moves to common pleas court as Judge Babst allows evidence on alleged pre death agreement that would bypass widow Mary OD Fisher in Colorado properties. Executor Sidney Sweet’s motions and demurrers were dismissed, permitting full proceedings.
Charles W. Ellis of Amoret Missouri has assumed full charge as manager of the LaRue News, succeeding L. G. Copeland who previously owned and managed the paper. Ellis took control December 1 and plans to buy the LaRue plant after disposing of his Amoret paper. Copeland will retain ownership of the plant but withdraw from day to day management.
If you buy twenty five pounds of sugar from a mail order house at one cent a pound less than the local merchant, you must spend ten dollars on goods you do not need. The ten dollars could be bought for eight and a half dollars in town, so the savings come from the sugar price difference minus the extra cost of the unnecessary goods. Net savings are three and a half dollars minus the one cent per pound difference times twenty five pounds.
A 15 and 16 Richwood Normal graduating class alumni meet at the Church of Christ manse on West Ottawa. They share teaching experiences, enjoy games and music, and elect Paul Rosette president with Mary Sloop secretary-treasurer. They plan annual reunion the first week in June.
Miss Mabel Ruth Davidson of Columbus wed Charles Franklin Ross of Cleveland in Columbus at 3 p.m. at Mrs. James O. Davidson’s home. Rev. A. L. Brokaw officiated with music by Miss Dorothy Davidson and Mrs. George Price. The couple will reside in Cleveland. Ross is a teacher at Cleveland Commercial High School.
Mrs. R. C. Hamner of Marion died Monday night in Grant hospital Columbus following a Sunday morn ing operation for cancer of the bowels. She had been ill two weeks and remains were taken to Marion. She was born June 30 1866 in Union county and survived by her husband seven children two brothers and a half brother. She belonged to Trinity Baptist church.
Michael Nappi, a Delaware shoe dealer, was held up Saturday night and robbed of 57.55. The gunman entered the store pretended to buy, then forced the proprietor at the cash drawer to hand over money. The assailant fled, with witnesses present. Police have no clue to the suspect.
Francis Marion DeBolt wed Malissa Bell Barghill at Wesley Methodist parsonage Marion on a Wednesday afternoon officiated by Rev D N Kelly. Attendants were Ray Debolt and Donna Converse. The couple will reside in Marion where Debolt works as a brickmason, formerly living in Richwood.
Orris B. Furniss a prominent Delaware county farmer died Thursday at his home at seventy seven after a pneumonia and lingering illness. He was born September 13 1839 and celebrated his golden wedding anniversary September 18 1916. He is survived by his wife five sons a daughter two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Saturday morning with Rev. E M Page officiating and burial in Cheshire cemetery.
The council met in regular session with the sidewalk committee chair reporting many stone walks citywide need repair and authority granted to repair them. A car of crushed stone for street work was approved and fire hose needs noted though funding delays delay purchase. Jonah Blue’s $75 bid for a small plot on Franklin Street was accepted without debate.
Thieves broke into the L. P. Albright company cold storage and took several turkeys, leaving doors open and risking spoilage in warm weather. The dynamite storage building at Peet Hardware near the Clay Company plant was also entered Monday night, with several sticks of dynamite reported missing.
William Fisher, a paymaster in the Panama Canal office in Panama, Panama, was hosted by Mr and Mrs George Hageman and relatives in Richwood late last week. He is the son of Thomas and Mrs Fisher, former Richwood residents now in Springfield, on a three months vacation and building a new home for his parents in Springfield.
The Carpe Diem club met Friday night December 1 at Mrs S W Van Winkle’s home. Group Six led the program with songs papers and sketches about Ella Flagg Young Andrew Carnegie Thomas A Edison Luther Burbank Russell Cromwell and others.
The will of Alva Stults probated in Marysville designates widow Susan as executrix with life farm use of 35 acres in York township. After her death, Cecil receives 500 dollars and the remainder is divided among four sons Cecil Luman Frank and Earl. two daughters Emma Sloop and Ella Ford get 2 dollars each before the main division. Luman has paid a 104 dollar mortgage and taxes 1887 1905 and taken farm proceeds. this is deemed full compensation. If Susan predeceases, Luman becomes administrator.

Edward A Schambs of Richwood dies in Mansfield after a brief illness. Born in 1838 in Worma Germany, he served in the 115th O V I during the Civil War and later ran a furniture business. He leaves a wife Mary C Schambs and six children including Edward B of Richwood and George of Cardington. funeral Thursday at 2 pm in Mansfield Lutheran church, pending daughter’s arrival from Portland.
