Richwood Farmers Institute Set for January Opera House

The Richwood farmers institute will be held January 19 to 20 at the opera house with state speakers W. I. Chamberlain from Hudson and S. J. Brown from Blanchester. Prof. N. E. Shaw will oversee an educational fruit growing exhibit led by F. N. Fagan. The executive committee will meet Saturday at 2 PM at the mayor's office to finish arrangements.

Norris E. Gallant of near Magnetic Springs wed Miss Jennette Roberts of Delaware county on Saturday. Monday night, neighbors serenaded the couple and insisted the groom fetch candy for women and children and cigars for men before all returned home wishing the couple prosperity and good health.

Miss Ila Katheryn Handley wed Ludwig Erwin Wideman in a home ceremony held on Thanksgiving Day in Cleveland. Navy veteran Francis Monroe returns home after four years

Francis W. Monroe, discharged from the U S navy on November 25 in New York, served aboard the battleships New Hampshire and Hancock. He married Miss Marjorie Nolen of New York City on November 28. He is the son of Mrs. Ella L. Monroe of Richwood.

Thanksgiving Family Reunion Hosted by Rays on Franklin Street

Relatives gathered at Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Rayl on North Franklin Street for a five course turkey dinner with pink and white chrysanthemum decor. Hunter Shot While Rabbit Hunting Near Richwood

Clayton Johnson of five miles west of Richwood was accidentally shot last Saturday while rabbit hunting in a board pile at his home. A rifle bullet struck his hip, passing about four inches into the flesh. Dr. H. C. Duke treated him and reports he is progressing as well as possible.

Ben Rutter, the well known Richwood barber, bought back his shop from Roy M. Taylor the past Friday, including the mensorial and bath departments. Taylor plans to move to Passadena, California with his family soon. Rutter is praised for a clean shop and skilled workmanship.

Dresdon man to take over Richwood store stock

H E Cassiday of Dresden Ohio has arrived in Richwood to assist at J E Langstaff's drug and jewelry shop. On February 1 he and partner Mr Nickel of Dresden will assume control of the stock and continue the business as previously noted.

Thanksgiving Service At Methodist Episcopal Church

Last Thursday evening a large audience attended a union service at the Methodist Episcopal church. Rev. W. R. Warjen of the First Baptist church delivered a focused sermon from Psalm 104 8 noting God’s mighty power and blessings. Lester Castle sang two solos while aiding Evangelist Bennett’s revival. A collection for town ministers’ charitable work was taken. Rural news is postponed to the Christmas edition.

A letter from W H Perry in St Petersburg dated December 1 1911 to Worden discusses paying a bill and requesting the Gazette Republican. He contrasts Richwood with the local climate and business, mocks local weather, and narrates two Richwood area youths who left for Richwood after working on Passagville Island shoveling sand and cement. he hints at forgiveness and affectionate reactions from local girls.

Prodigal Sons Return by 2 O'clock Train at Rich Wood

The Prodigal sons arrived in Richwood yesterday morning on the 2 o'clock train. The waiting girls appear relieved and hopeful. the reunion seems to have earned forgiveness, with at least one son vowing not to wander far again.

Bootlegger Arrested in Richwood Trial Postponed

Jake Harris, a married man from south Franklin street, was arrested in Richwood on bootlegging charges. He attended a preliminary hearing before Mayor Ogan, posted $300 bond, and faced a trial rescheduled to 7 p m after a 2 p m start. S. W. VanWinkle led village case. Warner of Marion defended Harris. Harris may remain in custody at the workhouse until fines and costs are paid.

Infant daughter of Wilcox dies after spinal illness

The eight month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ebert Wilcox Magnetic Springs died Monday at 7 00 am after spinal trouble since birth. The young couple received deep sympathy in the loss of their only child. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at lo oclock from the M E church Magneto Springs Rev A Clinger officiating. Fatal Railroad Conductor James Callahan Killed In Accident

John and Marshal Bell travel from Brunswick to Cumberland after the death of their brother in law James Callahan a conductor on the Brunswick Cumberland railroad. He was about 55 and died instantly when a hot box caused a misstep as he looked into the car. the body was moved to Cumberland for burial. Survived by widow Flora Bell and two children Maggie George and Fred Callahan. Funeral held Sunday.

Multiple Thanksgiving gatherings fill Richwood and area with dinners, sewing parties, and taffy pulling. Guests travel from Marion Summersville Columbus and Kansas City while local families host neighbors and friends for celebrations and birthday surprises.

Child Dies of Typhoid Fever in Thanksgiving Tragedy

Seven year old Leah Findling, daughter of Mr and Mrs H A Findling, died Thanksgiving morning after a brief typhoid illness. Funeral services were held at the home and Marion cemetery. The family had three children and relatives in attendance. Also noted are visits by Joe and Alma Donohoe and by Clyde and Jesse Graham with mentions of long-standing Gazette ties to Mr Graham.
