Local Notes and Movements Across the West

Fifty years ago LeRoy Taylor headed west on a business trip this week while M. E. Stamats and wife visited friends in the West. Willis Bowers boasts a 1300 tag tobacco collection and shows notable energy in a short time. Mrs. Hannah De La Mater, 60, sister of W. W. Renfrew, fractured her thigh at the Beem house last Friday. Clarence Gill, youngest son of Mr and Mrs H D Gill, died of diphtheria just a week after little Walter. A surprise greeted “Major” Bennett at his home in Marriott’s Addition last Friday evening. M. M. Shipley returns from a West tour.

William T Kinney Dies After Illness in Columbus

William T Kinney 28 died Wednesday night at University Hospital Columbus after a two year illness and several operations. He was a Richwood High School 1923 graduate born July 4 1906 in Ashland Ohio to Clarence and Ellen Kinney. Survived by widow Vera Minner daughter Ruth Eileen six parents two sisters and grandfather. funeral Saturday at Clarence Kinney home with interment in Claiborne Cemetery.

Woman's Relief Corps Inspected Tuesday November 27

The Woman's Relief Corps held its regular Tuesday afternoon meeting with President Cora Sloop in the chair. Deputy inspector Mrs. Nellie Aldridge of Lima audited the corps and praised their work, joined by inspector Mrs. Florence Smith of Kenton. A luncheon followed, with eight members present along with the inspector and guest, plus a chicken dinner at noon.

Sunday School Class Meets at Essex M P Church

The Count-on-Me class of the Essex M P church held an all day meeting November 30 at teacher Mrs Ralph White's home. After a pot luck dinner the group spent the afternoon sewing. Aged Richwood Resident Dies in State Hospital

Dinner at Howe Home by Bridge Club Members

The Tuesday Bridge Club hosted a pot-luck dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jo E. Howe on November 27. High score honors went to Mrs. Fred Rapp and Charles Handley, with Mrs. Blanche Hostetter and Stanley Peet consolation winners. Guests included Charles Handley and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wall.

Lodge Holds Meeting and Officer Election Preview

The I. O. O. F. lodge met Friday night with Donald Schmelzer as Noble Grand presiding. A second nominating of officers occurred and elections are set for the regular Friday meeting. Members are urged to attend and refreshments will be served.

Golden wedding anniversary for Claiborne couple

Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Langstaff of Claiborne celebrate fifty years of marriage on December 18. Relatives, friends and neighbors will attend a Sunday service at the M. P. church followed by a pot-luck dinner in the church basement. Mrs. Langstaff is former Dora Carr. They married December 18, 1884, in Pharisburg. They have a son Howard of Findlay.

Richwood Holiday Home Decoration Contest Announced

Richwood business leaders invite residents to decorate homes for the season with prizes funded entirely by contributors. Judging by three non residents within city limits, prizes depend on total contributions. Later notices will name sponsors and prize details. Awards to be given on Saturday evening December 22, 1934.

Union County Receives 11922 December Relief Funds

The State Relief Commission announced 11922 set aside for Union county relief in December. Allocations include direct relief 7534 work relief 3175 rural rehabilitation 743 emergency schools 450 and tran scintient care 20. Federal approval also funded Route 42 improvement in Jerome and Mill Creek townships costing 81949.98 with L L Clymer Bluffton contracting concrete resurfacing.

John Imbody 78 dies in Columbus hospital

John Imbody, brother of Marshal Imbody of Richwood, died at 1 p m Wednesday November 28 in a Columbus hospital. His home was six miles west of Green Camp. Funeral services were held at his son A D Imbody’s Marion home at 1 pm and at 2 pm at Marion Epworth M E church. Burial was in Marion cemetery. Surviving are his widow two daughters Mrs Ward Kinnaman and Mrs Ed Ruth five sons E W Imbody A D Imbody Sherman George and William three sisters and four brothers.

Complications Prove Fatal for Mrs Edna A Robinson Thomas

Mrs Edna A Robinson Thomas 61 wife of W R Thomas died Tuesday morning at her home northeast of Magnetic Springs after months of illness. Born May 14 1873 in Ohio she was the daughter of Albert and Almeta Johnson Robinson. Surviving: husband a daughter Edna Robinson a grandson and brother James R Robinson of Delaware. Funeral Thursday two o'clock in Thompson chapel with Rev Riggs officiating. Burial in Thompson chapel cemetery.

Three C Club Meets at Bruce Street Home

The Three C s club met at the home of Mrs. Bruce Street on a Wednesday evening with Mrs. Chapman assisting. Guests included Mrs. Elsie Magrew Miss Nelle Street and Mrs. Jessie Adair of Knoxville Tennessee. Mrs. Wurtsbaugh won first prize while Mrs. Daisy Boyd received the consolation. Mt Victory State Bank Robbed on November 28

About 12 30 o clock Wednesday November 28 two young robbers entered Mt Victory State Bank and ordered the employee and three customers to lie on the floor while they scooped up about 1000 dollars. The bandits left town quietly and Sheriff Forest Black was unable to help for lack of details.

Hunters Kill Eagle on C Boggs Farm Near Broadway

Hunters shot a grey eagle on C Boggs farm near Broadway during a hunting session and hung the bird on the fence. The wingspan measured 644 feet, a rare sight in the area, and the identities of the slayers were not learned.
