Richwood Normal basketball team opens season with win

Richwood Normal school's basketball team defeated Prospect High 11 to 8 in the season opener. Aggressive play and solid defense carried the Normal squad, with Langstaff contributing two baskets and three fouls scored by Langstaff, Reynolds, and Gast. The next game is set for Friday at the High school building with expectations of a large home crowd.

Death of George A. Ward at Pharisburg

George A. Ward aged seventeen of Pharisburg died Sunday noon from autointoxication. Son of Mr and Mrs Charles Ward he was industrious and well liked. Four years earlier he was struck behind the ear by a baseball bat and his health declined. Tragic Thanksgiving Fire Claims Sixier-Year-Old Girl

Eina Emory, six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Emory, living near Mechanicsburg, died after her clothing caught fire from an open fireplace while her mother briefly left the room. The blaze was contained by quick efforts, with the mother discovering the child on the floor upon returning.

Documentary stamp taxes from the war tax bill began December 1. Checks are exempt. Taxes fund treasury revenue, with rates: capital stock transfers 2 cents per $100. produce sales 2 cents per $100. bonds of indebtedness 5 cents per $100. indemnity bonds 50 cents or 1 percent of premium. reinsurance exempt. Original stock certificates taxed 6 cents per $100 face value.

Hunter loses his arm in rabbit hunting accident

Marion a 17 year old son of Mr and Mrs Z H M Elroy of Liberty township lost his left arm Friday after a dog knocked a gun down as he tried to retrieve a rabbit from a log. The weapon discharged injuring McElroy in the arm.
