Home Economics Convention Held in Columbus Ohio

The Regional Home Economics club convention took place at the Seneca hotel in Columbus on November 29. Delegates from Richwood included Dorothy Wolbert Elinor Snowden Eula Elliott and adviser Miss Burtchin with representatives from East High North High Amity Radnor Lancaster Plain City Pleasant Township and others. The program featured registration a welcome emblem pledges and performances plus a talk on Knitting for Defense by Mrs Price of Ohio State University. The meeting elected Miss Helen Fenstamaker as advisor for next year and the group dined together before adjourning.

Sunday of Sacrifice Observed by Baptist Churches

The Baptist denomination churches plan a Sunday of Sacrifice this Sunday December 7 to mark three months of fund raising for those suffering from the war in Europe and China. At Richwood Church Rev J Herbert Goewey will lead a Lord s Supper service with a meditation on Symbols of Sacrifice. The Sunshine Circle of the King s Daughters holds its December meeting Monday night December 8 at Mrs Laura Duke s home. all members urged to attend.

Pittsburgh Family Vacation With Mrs Langstaff

Mr and Mrs Robert James and daughters Marilyn and Margaret of Pittsburgh spent from Thursday to Sunday with Mrs Minnie Langstaff, enjoying a brief visit and time together in the suburbs.

Fireside Degree Given At F H A Meeting

The F H A girls held their monthly meeting at the high school on Monday December 1. They planned baskets for needy families and reviewed bills. Miss Burtchin spoke on the foreign scholarship fund that enables foreign girls to study home economics in the United States. Dorothy Wolbert reported on the regional meeting in Columbus on November 29. Ten girls received the Fireside degree including Louise Thomas Laura Somerset Marjorie Wood Ruth Ransom Ina Mae Allinder Jackie Lyons D Nell White Marjorie Hendricks Natalia Potts Wilma Martino. A Christmas exchange followed and refreshments were served by Iona Chapman and Florence Ruebeck.

Cheerio Circle Hosts Christmas Party

The Cheerio Circle of the Kings Daughters held a Christmas party at Mrs. Jean Manley’s home with 22 members present. Activities included carols led by Mrs. Goeney, scripture by Mrs. Matlack, The Christmas Story by Ruth Brelsford, a review of Ohio Voice issues, and a look at Girl Scout nature scrapbooks. New member Mrs. Burton welcomed. committee chaired by Mrs. Mildred Allen arranged refreshments.

Richwood Cagers Split Weekend With Broadway Loss

Richwood varsity fell 26 to 21 to Broadway last Friday as 9 9 at halftime and 19 21 near the end. The reserves won 21 to 11 and Richwood’s varsity showed improvement after weeks of practice. Tuesday they lost 33 29 at Radnor. Richwood led earlier but were edged 32 29. They next host New California Tuesday night. County results include Magnetic 44 at Darby 14 and York 22 at Dover 40.

The Richwood Young Farmers Association hosted the first county wide Y F A meeting at Richwood High School on November 26. Over fifty members from Darby Marysville and Raymond Y F A groups attended. Jim Foos presided with a business session then County Agriculture Agent Brubaker introduced Howard Davison of Ohio State University who spoke on swine issues tied to the food for defense program focusing on large litters sanitation and economical feeding.

Honor Class Elects Officers at Central Methodist Church

The Honor Class at Central Methodist church elected officers at Jeanine Meader's home. New leaders include President Janice Yarrington and Vice President Hilma Redard, with Jeannette Fields as secretary and Patty Webb as treasurer. Members and guests joined in games and refreshments as teachers and parents attended. The next meeting is set for December 18 at Jeannette Field's home.

Marion man named railroad passenger agent at Union Station

Robert H. Stief of Marion is appointed railroad passenger agent at Marion Union Station. He has served as a ticket agent since 1916 and is well known in Richwood, where he visits often. His wife is Roxie Snyder from Richwood.

W R C Elects Officers Tuesday

The W R C held a Tuesday afternoon meeting with most officers present. The secretary and treasurer reports were read and accepted. Norma Snowden received honorable discharge. December 5 set for Martha Washington Circle meeting at Mrs Upton Cheney’s home. December 16 to feature a Christmas exchange. Officers elected: Mary Lilley president Bell Rider senior VP Carrie Douglas junior VP Etta White treasurer Matteson conductor Alice Rose guard.

Richwood Grade School Operettas Planned Friday Night

Final reminder for Richwood grade school operettas to be presented Friday at 8:00 p m The two performances The Magic Feather of Mother Goose and Griegs Music Box feature grades one through eight with choruses dances duets solos and dialogue Music between acts will be provided by the high school band A matinee Thursday at 1:00 p m invites a full house.

Lions Club Holds Regular Meeting with Guest Speaker Kyle

The Lions Club met Friday night with Kyle from Plain City as guest speaker. He chairs the Toastmasters Club at Ohio State University and spoke on our position in world affairs. Attendance was good despite one member being sent for before his appearance. The next meeting will be Tuesday night with a speaker from the Division of Aid for the Aged.

Tennant Home Scene Of Council Meeting

Advisory Council No 14 met at the Tennant home on Friday night with 30 members and guests. Officers elected for next year were Robert Mather as chairman Jesse Roberts as vice chairman Mrs Don Cramer as discussion leader and Mrs Henry Foos as secretary. Roberts reported on the Farm Bureau convention in Columbus and the first farm problem Lack of Cooperation was discussed with Mather leading. Refreshments were served during social hour.

Mrs. Maxine Hall hosted the Fortnightly Club in Marion with Miss Mary Martin as assistant hostess. Roll call honored with I'm thankful for. Mrs. Elsie Shirley offered book recommendations. A paper on Personalities In Modern Poetry was presented by Mrs. Gladys Eddy. Miss Pauline Prichard spoke on Modern Poetry and read The White Cliff by Alice Duer Miller. Jolly Circle Meeting At Central Methodist Church

The Jolly Circle of the W. S. C. and Central Methodist Church met at Mrs. Minnie White's home on Thursday evening. President Mire Mason Yarrington led, Olive Lawrence gave devotions, and fourteen members answered roll call. Proceeds from the Vanishing Tea went to the Missionary Society. Christmas greetings plans were made for the needy. Mrs. Minnie White closed with lunch.
