Enoch Stewart responds to his wife's divorce suit denying laziness and claiming he has provided for the family. He alleges his health has declined due to his wife's cruel conduct and accuses her of initiating the action to annoy him. He also says the post-nuptial agreement was obtained by misrepresentation and asserts his wife has neglected household duties. He seeks a complete divorce and all proper relief.
Robert Gibson aged 85 died Thanksgiving morning at his Waldo road home after age related illness. Born January 1 1818 in Madison county he came to Union county as a child near Marysville and married Eliza Wagner in 1843 producing nine children including Albert Frank M Estelle Alonzo and Henry. His first wife died in 1891 and he remarried Mary Amrine in 1895 who survives. He farmed until about 20 years ago with funeral services held Friday at 2 pm at his home conducted by Rev. T A Wiltsee and burial at Oakdale.

S N McCloud purchased an 814 foot fronting on north Main street from Fred Houston for 3000 dollars. He then sold half of the south part to Emmett Conrad, hardware merchants, who will build a new structure for their use. The Knights of Pythias contemplate buying the north half and a combined double building may be erected. N Freemond’s barber shop now occupies the site and is to vacate within thirty days. If the lodge declines the offer, McCloud will partner with Emmett and Conrad on a new building. The property lies one block north of the public square.
Victor Bell died Wednesday evening November 26 1902 aged 27 after a long illness from diabetes. Born near Middleburg August 3 1875 he spent early life on a farm then moved to the city with brother Howard to enter real estate. Funeral services were held at Howard’s home and in Middleburg M E church with interment in the village cemetery as the Bell family mourns the loss of father mother and Victor within a short span.
A batch of land deals including Geo W Foreman to Byron Foreman for 16 acres in Taylor township at 40 dollars, R E Webb and others to Isaac Dally for 23 acres in York township at 1200, Globe Building & Loan Co. to C B Marriott for a lot in Richwood at 250, J F Millar and wife to C E Shirk for a lot in Richwood at 1035, etc. The entries cover multiple tracts in Claibourne Union Delaware and other townships with prices ranging from 40 to 4200 dollars.
Miss Rose Case, a teacher at Eli Bates Mission School in Chicago, Illinois, visited her parents Jason Case and spouse this week. A pocketbook containing about two dollars and a German 3 cent piece was found on Richwood streets yesterday. Finder may receive the two dollars by returning the items to the Gazette Office.
Last Friday evening Misses Marie Moore and Ethel Larcom hosted about twenty five friends at Larcom’s home. An elegant luncheon followed at 10 o'clock.

The Bee Hive store opened on Saturday drawing hundreds of visitors throughout the day and evening. The bright new goods delighted shoppers of all ages, making the room look its prettiest yet.
About 11 o’clock two unknown men trailed Dr T F Wurtsbaugh for roughly a mile while he was making a call east of town but did not attempt any harm. He stated he will be prepared to give them a warm reception in the future.
David Kales Jr. of near Arbela sustained a badly mashed left foot Monday evening in a hay press. Doctor Wurtsbanagh treated the wound and said amputation might be necessary, but the outcome remains uncertain.
Advertisement notes low prices for Quakertown coal from Gill and Crawford. Claims it burns cleaner than dry wood with no clinker and little ash. Warns buyers not to be misled by inferior substitutes and advertises price reductions.

M. P. Schambs of Mansfield is visiting his son Edward and family. He recently returned from the South where he surveyed timber lands to market. He reports land prices have advanced about one third in the past year and business prospects look encouraging.
In Common Pleas Court at Mt Gilead, Ohio, a teacher named John Whitford who was injured while trying to manage a district school received $300 from a jury after suing for $10,000. The verdict may impact teachers statewide.

Roy Somerset seventeen year old son of Mr and Mrs Wm Somerset on the Huber farm near Woodland was killed Saturday afternoon when his gun discharged as he climbed a fence. Blaine Johnson was with him and attempted aid but Somerset died instantly. Funeral held at Green Camp Monday afternoon with many neighbors in attendance.

Mrs. Martha Bryant, a wealthy colors woman of Walnut Hills, died at 101. Her funeral was held Monday. She owned one of the most valuable pieces of real estate on the hill top, a familiar figure in the neighborhood.
