Wildcats Fall 61 59 in Opener to Ridgemont Warriors

North Union opened the 1966 67 basketball season with a 61 59 loss to Ridgemont at Mt Victory gym. The Wildcats dominated rebounding 60 30 and played the last half without a team foul but shot only 28 percent and had many turnovers. Ridgemont edged ahead with 12 seconds left as North Union’s final attempt failed.

Betsy Reese age 13 entered her Siamese seal point cat For Kat's Koca Kreme in the Novice Class at the 46th Annual Championship Show of the Ohio State Persian Club Inc. in Columbus General Bush Armory. The cat earned four firsts and a championship banner, with Betsy recognized for her four ribbons. Betsy is an eighth grade student at Claiborne Elementary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Reese.

Chain Letter Craze Returns To Richwood

Richwood witnesses a revival of the chain letter craze with an appeal to buy $25 Savings Bonds for Uncle Sam. The scam promises $55,000 in matured bonds if ten names are kept in the chain. Local banks report heavy sales and over 200 residents have become bond salesmen after the first letter arrived from Cincinnati.

Semper Fidelis Class Meeting At First Methodist Church

Sixteen members of the Semper Fidelis Class met in the Fellowship room with Lillian Burbaugh presiding. Mayme Elliott led devotions, each member shared thanks, reports were read, and cards sent to the ill were announced. A social hour followed with poems read by Bertha Matlack and contests won by Celia Shields and Laura Benton, then refreshments served by Mrs. Shields and committee.

Marcie Weber a Bowling Green State University junior was featured as a soloist at a University School of Music concert. The Chorale and the A Cappella Choir performed pieces by Pironi Farrant Bach and Brahms with attendees including Mrs D J Weber of Richwood and Mrs Robert Hoover of Columbus.

Magnetic Service Club Annual Dinner at Camp Christian

The Magnetic Springs Service Club held its annual pot luck dinner at Camp Christian with Mrs. Mangus Ezrans as hostess. Christmas gifts were wrapped for the Chillicothe Veterans Hospital and for service members at home and overseas. Officers for the coming year were elected: President Mrs Clyde Parks, Vice President Frances Fegley, Treasurer Mrs Tom Elliott, Secretary Mrs Ed Mayers. Center Hospitality Delighted With Holiday Dinner Support

Nineteen dinners were served to Thanksgiving celebrants at the Civic Center on Thursday. Thirty meals went to those unable to leave home. The Center thanks volunteers who delivered meals, church groups, grocery stores, and friends for their willingness and concern for those spending the holiday alone.

The Claibourne Township Homemakers Group meets Wednesday evening December 7 at 7 30 in the Civic Center rooms. A lesson on laundering special garments includes demonstrations on stain removal and help with laundry problems for attendees.
