The Ohio legislature opens an extraordinary session at 3 p m Monday in Columbus to enact a municipal code and repeal the Roger law which wrongly deprived the supreme court of civil jurisdiction. The governor’s message urges restricting work to the code and repeal, with a hope to finish in about three weeks.
George B. Glessner of Wardner Bushnell Glessner Co says International Harvesting Co will keep the Springfield plant open and run it on a larger scale. E. W. Sherman, Chicago accountant, is reviewing the company books.
In Bedford Ohio the railroad company office safe was blown open between midnight and 2 am. The three burglars escaped after the expertly executed crime, tearing the heavy door free and exposing the contents. Local authorities investigate as the motive and suspects remain unclear.
Springfield Ohio August 26 Zachry T Freeman an aged resident of the Masonic state home is the defendant in a divorce suit filed by Viola Freeman at Cambridge Guernsey county. The charges are non support and abandonment for three years. Freeman is a hopeless paralytic and has not lived with his wife for 11 years. He will make no defense.
Peter Rielly a 60 year old brickmason and contractor from Metamora was found by the roadside in Toledo with a severed throat and decapitated head, the body in dust. An ax lay nearby and the victim had been robbed.
Mrs. Jane Newell, 66, local prominent figure, dies in a runaway accident as a wagon veers downhill. She jumped to safety but fell and struck her head, sustaining fatal injuries. incident occurred Sunday night in Springfield, Ohio.

Albert Blair and his wife of Tuscarawas county are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blair south of town. Miss Isca Quigley returns to Marion after visiting at the Blair home since Monday. Penrose Wiley with his wife and daughter Edna and 8S. H. Snowden and wife spent part of last week at a camp meeting near Mt. Vernon Ohio.
W G McAllister of near Marysville met his son Richard and daughter Marion in Richwood on Tuesday. The family is spending the week on the old home farm enjoying fried chicken and watermelons.
Jos F Cheney formerly of this vicinity now with Steam Shovel company at Marion wed Bertha A Waddell in a ceremony at the Epworth M E parsonage conducted by Dr A E Smith last Monday evening.
Miss Ruth Lake, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm H Lake who live just east of town, brought a basket of pears to the Gazette this morning. The gift came from pears she gathered from the trees especially for the newspaper staff.
Last Thursday evening at 7 30 o clock Arthur A Aller and Miss Imogene Scott both of this place were united in marriage by Rev N Y Mathews at his residence on east Ottawa street. Mr and Mrs Aller have the best wishes of a large circle of friends.
Congressman Warnock settles the DeGraff post office dispute by election. J. C. Irwin, once local, emerges as a leading candidate. A staunch Republican, he would make a good postmaster and hopes to win.
Duke of Baxter Arkansas with granddaughters Margarete and Elizabeth Duke from Monticello Arkansas are guests of his brother Dr W B Duke and family here. They are on their road home after an extended trip in the East.
J F Hamner, formerly living near Pharisburg, spent a few hours in Richwood on Tuesday after a five to six year absence from the area. He recounts serving abroad in the United States hospital corps during his time away, including stints in Porto Rico and the Philippines.

Last Sunday night about 9 30 o clock I D Butler proprietor of the Erie Hotel died after months of illness. He leaves a large family and a wife. Funeral held at the family home Tuesday and remains were taken to Deshler Ohio for burial.

The high school will begin Monday Oct. 14.
Celia Smart spent Sunday with Nellie Gabriel while Edgar Roy Hoffman and Fred Gabriel with wife visited Cincinnati and Prospect respectively. John Conal and wife, John Fryman and wife, and Thomas Fryman improving his house were among those listed. About 75 neighbors attended I. N Evans birthday gathering with ice cream and cake. Warrens and Cox hosted a reception for 75 guests with refreshments.

A group of Miss Dessie Earick’s schoolmates in Sabina Ohio surprised her on her sixteenth birthday Monday evening. After refreshments and games, they parted with wishes for many more such happy occasions. The funeral was noted as a prior event with plans to attend the M P church annual conference in Sabina.
Mr Harris and family G W Sigler and family Mr Henry Stable and family of York had dinner with RK A Linn and wife Sunday. Miss Kathryn Sneed of Omaha Neb returned home last Thursday after a few weeks with J M McKelory Dr M L Thompson and wife of Marysville spent days with son Dr C A Thompeon and Mr and Mrs Milton Thompeon. Mr and Mrs Frank Myers returned to Columbus last Friday after a week with their parents A E Myers and wife.
The Beem family reunion marked the fifth annual gathering from four main branches led by L C Beem and B F Beem. Attendees from Maryland to Kansas joined in maps, dinners, toasts, music, and a family historian role as plans for a monument to Michael Beem continued with a Summit Ohio meeting slated for August 1903.
