Council Plans Street Lights by September First

At a regular meeting the Richwood council unanimously ordered an electrical improvement to have street lights by September first. Mayor Jones will oversee street work as the county seeks a competent inspector. The village granted the American Legion permission to use streets for Labor Day celebration. proceeds go to the post treasury. Five cars of stone were bought for local streets though a local quarry can’t supply much, and ordinances on street cleaning and sprinkling were passed.

Frank Holycross Named Trustee in Arnold Affair

Frank Holycross of Marysville is appointed trustee for I W Arnold's affairs after Columbus merchants petitioned in U S district court to declare Arnold bankrupt and appoint a receiver. Bond set at 30000 dollars as creditors’ claims are determined and assets liquidated. Bank of Marysville seized four Raymond automobiles to cover 3033.21 on notes. notes deemed legitimate. Pontius names L G Tatman as special deputy to aid liquidation and asset distribution for Magnetic Springs Banking Company.

School levies defeated in four townships and carried in four districts

Washington, Liberty, Jackson and Dover townships defeated proposed levies for school purposes while Union, Taylor, Magnetic Springs and Mill Creek districts carried the propositions. Voters will be asked to cast ballots again on the same measure at the November election in districts where the levy failed at the August primary.

Miss Gertrude Bell of Webb City Missouri married William Paul Gabriel in Newport Kentucky Tuesday morning by Judge Thomas Ghe ring. The bride is the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bell and a Webb City High School graduate. The groom is son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gabriel and a Richwood High School 1918 graduate. They will reside with his parents while Gabriel joins his father in business.

Mail Carriers Enjoy Picnic at Eagle Park
