Boards of Health to Provide Free Diphtheria Antitoxin

Under the Hughes-Griswold health law effective January, boards of health must furnish diphtheria antitoxin to all applicants at no cost, expanding beyond indigent patients only as previously. Special Policeman Shoup Makes First Arrest in Court News

Special Policeman Clement Shoup recently filling Penney’s vacancy made his first arrest Thursday. Hoadley Tonguet faced the mayor on a drunk and disorderly charge, assessed 14.40 in fines and costs, which he paid. Lawrence Jerew was arrested on non support by Logan county officials and settled before release.

George Reidel Dies Suddenly on Snowden Farm

George Reidel, age 57, collapsed while baling hay on the Snowden farm northwest of town Tuesday morning. He died within minutes despite a physician's arrival. Born October 9 1862 to John and Catherine Reidel of German origin, he leaves a widow, a sister Mrs. Cooper of Paulding County Ohio, and three stepsons Frank Alonzo and Fred Sloop of Richwood. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home with Rev. H C Gillespie officiating and burial at Mt Olive.

Real activity in Chautauqua preparations underway

With G. Layman arriving as Redpath Chautauqua's first advance man, outdoor advertising began and season tickets went on sale. The six day program opens August 19 featuring It Pays to Advertise, Dunbar's Male Quartet and Bell Ringers, the White Hus­sars concerts, Harold Proctor and Ada Roach Joy Night, plus lectures by York, Jones, Lauler, Ward, and Hivale. A dramatic reading of Mister Antonio by Bryl Buckley highlights entertainment. A junior leader will guide children, with a concluding pageant on the sixth night.

Edmond Jones Dies in Marion

Edmond R. Jones, 55, son of Mr and Mrs W T Jones formerly of Richwood, died Saturday at a Marion brother’s home from paralysis. He was a widower, survived by sister Mrs Ida Hildreth of Chico California and brother Roy Jones of Marion. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Marion and burial followed at Claiborne cemetery.
