Workmen for Geo Prospectors Inc of Tulsa moved into the area Monday to drill shallow 100 ft test wells on Pan American Oil leases west of Richwood along State Route 47 and Miller Pike. Fifteen to twenty wells will be drilled this week with initial sites on Paul Houk farm and Bill Temple farm among others. buried charge and reading determine future oil drilling.

Vera Marie Reed 68 of Mt Victory Route 1 died July 29 after a three month illness. She was born July 29 1885 in Union County, daughter of Benjamin H and Clara A Cameron Matteson. She belonged to Union Baptist Church West Jackson. Survivors include two daughters Erthen Sewell Route 1 Mt Victory and Mrs Harry Moore Route 2 Richwood, 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Thursday at Winter Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m. Rev Ray Anglea officiating. Burial at Claiborne Cemetery.

The Essex Pythian Sisters met at Richwood Park on July 25 for a six o clock picnic supper. Seven members and two guests attended. Junior Fair Sale Committee Plans Third Annual Auction

A patent for a new spring wire killer trap was awarded to Bigelow Trap Company of Marysville by the U S Patent Office and also patented in Canada. The trap features adjustable tension and two steel regulating strings, is lighter than similar traps, and Bigelow has produced traps for 38 years with Don Bigelow as current plant operator. his father began making them in 1925.

Rolland Keith Dixon aged 50 died Tuesday at 7 45 am at his home after a ten year illness. He was born February 25 1913 in Richwood, son of Curtis and Ethel Scott Dixon, and a retired shop worker.
