Attendees Tour Holy Land Exhibit in Columbus Hartman Theater

Rev and Mrs Ray J Hunter hosted their N M S Sunday school class at the Holy Land exhibition in the Hartman theater Tuesday. Attending were Misses Helen Chapman Dixie Sue Carroll Margaret Cameron Roberta Hill Gladys DeBolt Richard Dixon Howard Columber and Donald Pettey. A pinch dinner was enjoyed at noon.

Richwood Fair Set for 43rd Exhibition Week

Preparations are under way for the 43rd Richwood Fair to run August 6 through 9. Weather permitting the program features free acts by W. O. Parent including a cannon shot and net landing, balloon ascension, rides and races. Thursday offers four main races and a wrestling bout. Friday showcases horse races and nightly dances with band music. Entries close at 6 p.m. August 5, per Secretary O. E. Stout.

Jolliff Family Reunion Near Byhalia

Descendants of John and Mary Jolliff gathered at Elmer Jolliff’s home northeast of Byhalia for their annual reunion with about 70 attending. A basket dinner followed by a business session elected Clyde Cramer president J E Cramer vice president and Georgia Cramer secretary. a children’s program was presented. The next reunion is planned for the last Sunday in July at the home of Mr and Mrs J E Cramer near Richwood.

Social at Fox Home by Intermedi ate RBPYU members

Teen members of the Intermedi ate RB. Y. P. U. held a social at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fox last Friday evening. Miss Marie Chapman led games and contests. Refreshments were provided by Adelyn Glassmeyer, Granville McDaniel and Robert Fox. Seven guests attended.

Paralysis Fatal to Cary Mosher

Cary E. Mosher aged 62 farmer died after a three year illness of paralysis Saturday at his home five miles west of Richwood. He was born November 20 1871 in Ohio, married Effie Phelps October 16 1895 at Marysville. Surviving are wife two sons Lloyd and Carlton four grandchildren two sisters and funeral held at home with burial in York cemetery.

Reunion at Schurch Home Names Leaders for 1936

Fifty five relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Jacob Schurch Sunday July 28 for the Schurch Lindenman family annual reunion. Delegates came from Detroit Columbus Grove City Kenton Bellefontaine Galion McGuffey Marysville and Richwood. Arthur Engle was elected president and Erma Engle secretary and treasurer. Ice cream was served in the afternoon. The tenth annual reunion will be held at Connors Landing the second Sunday in August 1936.

Richwood Board adopts free text books in early grades

The Richwood Board of Education voted Monday night to begin free texts in the first six grades under a new Ohio General Assembly law. Used books in good condition will be bought later to level the start, while work books and supplies are excluded. Parents may also buy books if they wish.

Mrs Nora Wood Stricken With Paralysis

Mr and Mrs George Wood and their son from Pontiac Michigan visited Beatty Avenue where Mrs Nora Wood suffered a stroke and could not answer entry. Entrance was gained by breaking a window and she was found upstairs in a helpless condition. She is now reported somewhat improved.

Mr and Mrs Harold Monroe recently married were honored with a miscellaneous shower Monday evening at their East Ottawa street home. About fifty relatives and friends attended the social hour with ice cream and cake. The couple received a variety of beautiful and useful gifts.

Richwood wins a decisive victory over Marion Independent Colored at the local grounds. Castner allowed seven scattered hits while Richwood’s bats rang up 18 hits off Simmons and Terry of the visitors.

The I. O. O. F. lodge held a regular meeting with Noble Grand Joe Gaston presiding. A contest is under way and all Odd Fellows are urged to attend future sessions.

Radio star's wife killed in Ohio crash near Marysville

Mrs. Gertrude Ferte 85 wife of A J Ferte broadcaster known as Uncle Ezra Martin suffered a severe skull fracture and fatal injuries when the car she rode in collided with I N Stevens of Westminster near Marysville. Ezra Ferte was slightly injured. They were returning to Columbus from Camp Wilson Bellefontaine after visiting their son. The death occurred at Marysville in Dr Snider's office.

Auto Crash Injures Essex Men Near Kenton

Omar Carr of Essex and Chas Jollis of Kenton were hit by a car at a Kenton filling station area Sunday while watching repairs on Carrs auto. Carr suffered head and facial injuries with possible internal damage. Jollifs left knee was fractured. Others in the Carr car include Dorothy Ridgeway Pauline Blue Harold Grandstaff and Burton Marvin. Dick Brown of Kenton drove the striking car and failed to see the parked vehicle due to approaching headlights. Both men are reported improving at McKitrick Hospital Kenton.

Miss Riley Presented in Piano Recital

Mrs. Alice Mather presented her pupil Miss Margaret Ann Riley daughter of Mr and Mrs Riley of Blain Avenue in a piano recital at the Mather home last Friday evening. The program included Study in D Minor Etude Opus 82 No Old Refrain Liebesfreud Saluta Pesth Romance and Concert Polka.

Stray dogs kill poultry in two Ottawa neighborhoods

Eighteen chickens eight pounds or more were killed by two stray dogs last Friday at the Mc Crary home on Blain avenue. A similar attack killed 17 chickens at the Rose home on East Ottawa street. Town reports indicate stray dogs are increasingly damaging property.

Miss Jane McAllister Returns From Brooklyn by Plane

Miss Jane McAllister arrived home Saturday from Brooklyn New York where she will spend a two weeks vacation with her parents Mr and Mrs F A McAllister. The trip was made by airplane and took four hours ending with a Saturday evening arrival in Columbus. She called the journey a real pleasure.

Wells Family Reunion Near Richwood

The 14th Wells reunion met July 28 at Clarence Kinney and Lola Styer home near Richwood with about 125 guests. Officers elected were President Clarence Kinney and Secretary Lola Styer. One death two births and two marriages were reported.

Marion man fined for intoxication and disorderly conduct

Lowell Richards of Marion was arrested last Thursday night on intoxication and disorderly conduct charges. He appeared before Mayor Sturgis Cheney and was fined $10 with $8.60 in costs, totaling $18.60.

Edgar Baker Marries Galion Girl July 24

Announcement reports the marriage of Miss Adeline Charles of Galion to Edgar Baker son of Raymond Baker of Richwood. The ceremony occurred at United Brethren Church in North Robinson on July 24. Baker works at Galion Iron Works and Manufacturing Co two. The bride is Galion High School graduate class of 1934. They will live with the bride's parents in Galion.

Workmen Erect Tower for New Water Works System

Workmen have spent the past week building a tall tower and tank on South Fulton street to supply water for the new water works set to operate in the early fall. Piping is underway through streets and into homes, with about 240 citizens already signed up and more registering daily. The completed tower will be visible at a distance.

A marriage license for Nettie M. Sleg of Richwood and George Stone of Kenton was issued last week and the ceremony, conducted by Rev. W A Denton, linked two childhood friends. After a week visiting Kenton they return to Richwood to make their home.

Severe storm damages property in Claiborne area

A severe electrical and wind storm at about 6 30 p m Sunday night tore roofs from the A C church Albert Thompsons barn and Guy Rileys residence and damaged crops. Near Broadway the roof blew off William Elliots barn and the Anderson silo collapsed.
