Narrow Escape as Train Strikes Truck at Fulton Street Crossing

Joe Wiley and Harvey Roberts escaped serious injury when Erie train 16 struck their truck around one o clock Tuesday. The truck owned by Wiley carried household goods for Roberts. many fruit cans and furniture were damaged though a framed motto survived. The crossing is noted as dangerous with poor paving and past accidents.

Mrs Isabelle Myers Dies After Brief Illness in 1925

Mrs Isabelle Myers wife of James H Myers died Thursday evening March 26 1925 after a brief illness. Born and longtime Dover Township resident she was daughter of Samuel T Rit tenhouse and Elizabeth Nichols Rit tenhouse both deceased. She married James H Myers April 6 1871 on the Dover farm. they had six children and fourteen grandchildren with all surviving except the wife of son Milo L Myers who died December 10 1924.

Richwood Dealers Elect Leaders At District Meeting

A hardware dealers group from Delaware to Ostrander met at Hotel Allen in Delaware Thursday evening. State President F. R. Conklin presided after a 6:30 dinner. George M. Gray and J. B. Carson spoke, with F. E. Riley of Richwood named president and M. A. Miller elected secretary for the coming year. Next gathering planned for May.

Heart of Ohio League to Compile 1925 Schedule

Heart of Ohio base ball league officers meet at Hotel Villa Friday to draft the 1925 schedule. The league will adopt Flexyde balls purchased from J J Corbett. Allgower urges interested players to report for tryouts.

Poultry Men Form Ohio Show Circuit

Richwood poultrymen attended a Friday Marion meeting at Hotel Harding to organize the Ohio Poultry Show Circuit. W F Kohler was elected president, O F Zimmerman vice president, and D B Whitehead secretary treasurer with a committee from each city. The circuit dates list Marion, Prospect, Forest, Kenton and Richwood with Marion as headquarters.

Paralysis Claims Life of R. J. Hager at 68

R J Hager aged 68 died Sunday night at the county home from paralysis. Born June 4 1865 he was the son of Levi and unnamed mother. He leaves three brothers Harley Hager Lin den Hager F S Hager and a sister Almira Shirk. Funeral held at Friends church Byhalia Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev Williams officiating Lloyd Winter in charge.

Union County Schools Receive State Aid Distribution

The state education department notified Union County Superintendent J A Yealey that Dover Rural gets 500 dollars Leesburg Rural 400 Magnetic Springs 2000 York 1000 and Jerome Special is not settled. Additional aid may follow. Allen and Jackson Rural will use House Bill 27 enabling an extra levy if petitioned.

Livingston post W R C met in regular session Tuesday afternoon with good attendance and several agenda items. Initiation services planned for April 14. Mrs C E Holycross and Mrs C E Ogan hosted the J T club with prizes awarded to Mrs J F McElheny and Mrs Leo Ridgeway. A birthday gathering for Mrs J A Howe and others from Prospect and surrounding areas followed. A farewell party for Mr and Mrs C E Kinney was held at Clarence Kinney's home with over 50 guests and a supper.

Aid Society Hostesses At Mrs Oborn Home

Group 4 of the Aid Society of the Baptist church hosted a Wednesday afternoon gathering at Mrs W J Oborn to conduct devotional services led by Mrs C F Cox and a program featuring readings by Mrs Howard Temple and Kathleen Melvin, songs by Rachel Temple and a ladies quartet, with lunch served by the hostesses.

Civil War Vet Passes 87th Mile Marker of Life

William M. Fisher of 322 East Ottawa Street died on his 87th birthday Friday March 27. A lifelong Richwood area resident and Civil War veteran, he was the oldest Livingston G A R member in the county. His daughters Mrs. W. S. Jolliff and Mrs. C. R. Aikin hosted a family birthday gathering at his home.

Pheasants to Multiply at Roosevelt Preserve Near Portsmouth

The Ohio state department plans to raise over 10,000 pheasants at the Roosevelt game preserve near Portsmouth this year, supplementing the Wellington farm output to ensure ample birds for the open season. Plans include fencing four square miles for an elk corral, with potential use for deer if elk acquisition fails, and the honor camp to improve access and conserve water for wildlife.

Agosta Lodge Confers First Degree At Richwood

The I O O F degree staff of Agosta Lodge conferred the first degree on six candidates in Richwood on Friday night March 27. About 125 attended, and those absent missed a real treat. A lunch and smoker followed. The local lodge will hold degree work every Friday night and urges members to attend.

Death of Mrs J L Fish in Long Beach Cal

Mrs J L Fish of Long Beach California died from heart trouble and was found in bed. She had been well known in Richwood where she visited relatives several times, and her death was reported to Mr and Mrs W E Taylor on Monday.

Peoria Youth 17 Killed After Runaway Horses

Carroll Shirk of Peoria aged 17 died from a fractured skull after a farm wagon was spooked by runaway horses on the Frank Dodge farm near Peoria. Found on the ground by Frank Dodge, death came about an hour later. Shirk's father, Don Shirk, is a foreman with the Erie railroad at Peoria.

Harding Memorial project to start in November

Hoke Donithen executive secretary of the Harding Memorial Association said construction on the $600,000 tomb near Marion on the Marion Columbus road will begin in November. The Harding home on Mt Vernon avenue will be rebuilt as it was in March 1921. Josiah Bindley of Marion is named new Harding Memorial Association trustee, succeeding the late Fred Upham of Chicago.

Wells Hildreth Dies at 91 in Columbus

The body of Wells Hildreth aged 91 died at his son John Hildreth's home in Columbus. Funeral services were held at Magnetic Springs M E church with Rev Hagens officiating. He leaves no surviving near relatives besides his son John Hildreth. Burial at Hopewell cemetery was conducted by Lloyd Winter.

Fire destroys 60 plus line poles at Scioto plant

The Columbus Delaware and Marion Electric Co. lost 1200 dollars when a grass fire started near the Scioto plant two miles north of Prospect. A carload of more than 60 new line poles were unloaded and piled beside the track. Prospect fire department brought flames under control.
