Richmond voters backed an $80,000 bond to replace the Caldwell school lost to fire, with 1200 in favor and 337 against. The margin exceeded two thirds, guaranteeing a new building for the city and community. Polls closed at 4 pm and vote counting finished within half an hour.
Gam Warden Grider and District Warden Gentry uprooted a large fish dam from the Dix river near Spillman’s Mill, near Danville. They were warned the dam aided seine anglers who violate the law. Grider says complaints about unlawful fishing persist and vow action to curb stock fish in the stream.

Major Noel M. Womack aged 74, a Civil War veteran and Commissioner of Confederate Records under Governor Augustus E. Willson, died in Louisville after four days of serious illness and months of failing health.

Creation of separate prohibition enforcement units in each state with a state director at the head is the basis of reorganization of the prohibition enforcement organization worked out by Commissioner Blair of the International Revenue Board. Ezekiel M. Norman who fought with Jackson at Chancellorsville and with Lee and Pickett across Virginia died at his home near Old Paint Lick Garrard County Kentucky He was 86 and had lived in Kentucky since 1875 A member of the 51st Virginia Volunteers he served throughout the war and later settled in Madison and Garrard counties He joined the Old Paint Lick Presbyterian Church at age 65 Funeral services will be held at Old Paint Lick church Saturday at 4 PM with interment in the church graveyard
Washington reports the death of William E Mason a former U S Senator from Illinois aged 71. Mason who began as a rural school teacher rose to national politics before retiring. He died of heart trouble in Washington on June 16.
