Richmond College Fall Opening Features Shirelles and Drifters
Richmond College opens fall season with a 2 to 4 pm concert at Mithiser Gymnasium featuring the Shirelles and the Drifters. Ticket prices are $5 in advance, $6 at the door. stag tickets $3 in advance, $4 at the door. A Southern Conference football game at City Stadium Friday pits the Spiders against VMI at 6 15 pm. Fraternity parties follow the concert. The Shirelles from Passaic NJ rose from a high school show to hits like Tonight s the Night and Dedicated To the One I Love. The Drifters, formed in 1955, scored with Money Honey then Dance With Me and True Love True Love, later retaining hits such as Save The Last Dance For Me and Under The Boardwalk. Other members include Johnny Moore, Charles Thomas, Gene Pearson, and Johnny Terry.

The Westhampton College Government Association launches Project Thanksgiving to raise 75 to 85 dollars for a Red Cross chest of school supplies for displaced South Vietnamese refugee children in Southeast Asia. The effort funds pencils notebooks erasers and other basics via a national U S Committee for International Development drive. If contributors fall short the balance comes from the college treasury under association president Pat Brown.
