Richard Poage of the Student Government announces the Board of Trustees has granted the petition of the Student Senate to permit Sunday sports on campus with restrictions. Dr. Boatwright will issue the governing regulations next week before programs begin, with tennis, canoeing, handball, and volleyball expected for students.

Opening Interfraternity Dances Set for October 19 20
In Millhixer Gymnasium the Opening Interfraternity Dances will be held October 19 and 20 as part of Homecoming Week festivities against VMI on October 20. The Dance Committee negotiates with Columbia Broadcasting Artist Bureau and Music Corporation for a well known orchestra with a two dollars and fifty cent admission. Three dances are planned including two evenings and a Friday afternoon affair with 9 to 1 Friday night and 12 o clock Saturday. Decorations and lighting will feature new designs under an experienced committee. If the openings succeed financially, plans call for a major mid winter orchestra. if not, Easter Hops may be cancelled.

At the University Playhouse on Monday the Class of 1088 elected officers with close ballots and a large vote. Paul Roberts won the senatorial seat with 61 votes over Aubrey Ross and John Haw.
