Enrollment in all divisions of the University of Richmond is rising with Westhampton College and Richmond College showing gains over last year. Westhampton reports 130 new students already registered, plus 170 returning, totaling over 800. Richmond College anticipates about 600, including 240 new men and 400 upperclassmen. Bailey noted guests were not permitted to pay for anything while there.

At the national convention in Old Point Comfort Virginia on September 2 the charter for the Virginia Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta was granted to the Phi Delta Omega local fraternity of the University of Richmond. The event marked the ninety year anniversary of Phi Delta Theta and the Virginia Delta chapter became the 107th chapter. The Richmond Phi Delta Omega was the oldest local fraternity in the South.
