Westhampton College Names Miss Tucker Dean of Students

Westhampton College has appointed alumna Miss Josephine Tucker as social dean and English instructor. Tucker, former Concord Academy headmistress and Phi Beta Kappa member, returns to lead student government guidance after study at Radcliffe Cambridge and Bread Loaf.

University of Richmond Night at Loews Theatre

A University of Richmond evening event will be held at Loews Theatre on Friday September 22. The U R Band, the Westhampton College Glee Club directed by Miss Priscilla Phillips, and nine Richmond College Glee Club quartets will participate. The program will include an auto procession ending at the theatre.

Barn Dance At RC Gym For YMGA YWGA Night

Millhiser gymnasium hosts the second annual barn dance at 8:50 p.m. with the Freshman Class and new students as guests of the Y. Jeans or overalls required. A hillbilly band and square dance instructors will lead dancing. Faculty and upperclassmen urged to attend. admission is free.

From sales earlier in the week it appears this year's Spider Handbook will be a virtual sell out says editor Sam Weiman. About two thirds of the Handbooks had been sold by Wednesday says circulation manager Frank Skinner but sales slackened after that.

Enrollment Drops Slight at Richmond Universities This Week

University of Richmond and its divisions report only small decreases in new and returning students for the term despite wartime unrest. President Modlin notes total enrollment near 4 000, with veterans thinning the campus. Dean Pinchbeck expects about 900 at Richmond College, 350 freshmen, and Westhampton College near 416.
