Richmond Spiders Face Tough Schedule Under New Coach

University of Richmond football begins practice under Coach Glenn Thintlethwaite for a nine game slate. The Spiders host Roanoke College September 20 then travel to Cornell on September 27, with Homecoming October 20 against Emory and Henry. Governor Peary might review the Cadet Corps before October 27 Hampden Sydney visits, and schedule includes Georgetown and Davis and Elkins later in the campaign.

Honor Council Official Speaks at Richmond College

The Richmond College Honor Council opens its second full session under Will Grenoble to plan the year’s program. Freshmen received a full explanation of the honor system, with the council serving to enforce the campus code and hear violations. Members working with Grenoble include Gatua Digges, John Hyrbarrow, Fil Sanford, David Scott, Stuart Crawford, and Billy Ballou.

Dramatic Club Presents A Good Woman at University Playhouse

The University Players will stage Arnold Bennett's drawing room farce A Good Woman at 8 tonight in the Playhouse for Richmond and Westhampton new students. An experienced cast led by Jackie Lowe Beverley Britton and Alfred Dickinson will star as Rosamund Life James Brett and Gerald O Mara under Mary Mills rehearsal plans. Johnston will address new students on club activities and membership requirements as twenty four student leaders are named as advisers to the 1934 6 Freshman class.

Richmond College Plans Extensive Intramural Sports Program

Coach Glenn Thistlethwaite outlines a new intramural system at Richmond College with Mae Pitt and an Intra-Council to oversee athletics. The constitution creates The University of Richmond Intramural Athletic Association to organize competitive activities for non varsity players and to recruit for varsity teams.

University to Limit Dances to Boost Interfraternity Series

University plans run total dances per organization by signing onto a calendar in the Dean's office. New policy aims to raise attendance at Interfraternity events by reducing dances this year. Four dance series planned at Millhiser Gym with openings in October and finals after exams, plus potential Easter Hops.

Observer Proclaims Alarm At Increasing Rat Menace

Four Faculty Changes Made Garvey Named

The university announces Dr. R. Garvey joins the psychology department from Washington and Jefferson University. He brings a PhD and will teach sociology and psychology at Richmond and Westhampton. Also joining are Clyde Moss in freshman physics labs, James B. Wilborn as chemistry graduate assistant, and Emma Wright named dietician at Westhampton.

New Collegian Introduces New Type and Digest Feature

The Collegian reveals new type and a more journalistic layout modeled on the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Editor in Chief Charles B. Arendal announces changes while preserving the same issue size and adding The Collegiate Digest rotogravure section with campus event photos. Four thousand copies will be mailed to alumni nationwide to boost circulation.
