Harding Triumphs Over Cox in Clever Campus Debate
The Philologian Literary Society opened with a March 27 program attended by over eighty. Joseph Rotella recited The Call of Dan McGrew, W. R. Carner read Dr Crane, and A. C. Banks spoke on When Shall We Have Peace. In the debate on Cox vs Harding the affirmative team Leek and Burke argued for Harding, while Keith and Hatcher defended Cox. The verdict was unanimous for Harding, with Keith delivering the best speech and Leek a close second. H. S$. Cummins music on mouth organ and mandolin drew an encore.
