Socialist James Ferrell Named 69 Resident Scholar in English
Westhampton selects James T. Ferrell novelist of the 1950s realism as Boatwright Scholar in Residence for the first semester. He will visit from New York City two days weekly to teach creative writing and lecture. Ferrell, raised in Chicago, has written Studs Lonigan and Young Lonigan, and has engaged in socialist and democratic themes.

Winders appointed to RG Honor Council at Richmond College

The Symposium committee seeks Dr. James A. Pike the controversial ex bishop to headline the April 10 12 conference on Spiritualism and Mysticism. Pike known for unorthodox views on afterlife ESP and communication with the dead drew wide student support and may join via independent funding efforts for a student run program at the university.

Graduation Set June 9 At University of Richmond
Graduation ceremonies for more than 550 University of Richmond undergraduates will be held Monday June 9 with Dr Olin T Brinkley president of Southeastern Theological Seminary delivering the commencement address at the Mosque in Wake Forest North Carolina. The Baccalaureate sermon will be given by the Rev W Franklin Gile at 8 p.m Sunday June 8 in the Greek Theater. University President Dr George M Modlin will confer the degrees.
