Rushing Rules Revised for Coming Year

Changes to fraternity rushing rules adopted by the Interfraternity Council tighten date setting for three day rushing. A card system will record dates with freshmen or transfers, with penalties for breaking dates. Matriculation timing governs when dates may be set, and violations bar pledging for the semester.

Richmond College Exams Start June

Richmond College announces the start of regular semester examinations on June 1 with schedules posted in the Administration Building. The plan swaps the color order from last semester and assigns June 1 to Tuesday 2 pm classes, with Monday 9 am classes testing on June 9.

Optimism of Browning Needed Now Says Phelps

Seward Elected to Head Pi Delta Epsilon

At a Wednesday meeting Pi Delta Epsilon elected officers for the coming year. William W. Seward Jr is president Robert W. Perrell vice president Waldo Miles secretary treasurer. Ed Cohen aided planning for the Virginian Intercollegiate Press Association convention next fall with PDE support.

Morrissette to Speak for Economics Club

On Wednesday May 24 the Economics Club will host its first banquet at 7 P M in the refectory. State tax commissioner C H Morrissette will speak. Invitations go to current and new members, some alumni, and five faculty members are expected. Eight new members have joined the society.

Honor Council to Sponsor Chapel Talks at Richmond College

Richmond College plans a Wednesday chapel program featuring elder professors and Glee Club selections to illustrate the honor system. Stuart Cook notes that disclosure of accusers is prohibited to encourage reporting, while some students still misjudge reporters as “squealers.” A Student Government meeting Monday will address further questions.

McElroy to Speak at University of Richmond Commencement

University of Richmond 1943 commencement activities run June 9 to 13 with Dr. Robert L. McElroy delivering the main address. Cannon Selected to Head Debate Council at Westhampton College

Miss Betsy Cannon was elected president of the Debate Council at Westhampton College on May 15. Officers chosen include vice president Miss Mary Louise Quackenbush social secretary Miss Virginia Kirk and business manager Miss Helen Caulfield. Miss Cannon reported on the TEA Convention delegates Betsy Cannon and Helen Caulfield described the event and its success.

Tommy Tucker and Californians Bring Low Dance Prices

The Interfraternity Council schedules three dances at Roger Milliniser Gym on June 9 and 10 featuring Tommy Tucker and his Californians. Tickets for the full set cost 2.50 with 1.50 for separate night dances, plus a 1.00 tea dance Saturday afternoon.

Harlequins Plan May 2 Dance at Kappa House

At their May 10 meeting the Harlequin Club set a May 2 dance at the Kappa house with Henry Bryan and his orchestra. New officers were elected Waldo Miles president Garnett Snead secretary Harold Lucas treasurer Mac Trawier. Three new members Motley Hooker Benny Campbell Vernon Richardson joined the club, which fosters campus fraternity relations and hosts dances.
