Parents Weekend at University of Richmond Weekend Activities

More than 400 parents visit the University of Richmond for a two day program. They attend classes tour the campus meet professors and join a luncheon led by Robert K Harnsberger. They attend a band concert and a baseball game against the University of Virginia.

Students prepare for the annual May Day festival at Westhampton with 611 tasks for 490 participants. The carnival features a vineyard theme and events like a miniature golf booth and a lantern parade at 7 15 pm.

Philologians Hear Four Talks at Weekly Meeting

The Philologian Literary Society held four talks by Steve Slaughter on modern hypnosis Pettus T Morris on atomic bomb decisions Albert Millar on the ancient Olympic spirit and Robert Scarborough on matchbook collections. The group voted to honor vice president Jason Mori who transfers to Baylor next year. The treasury’s cash condition was noted and Mori was thrown in the lake.

University Plans Major Long Range Athletic Blueprint

Commonwealth IGlub members heard a four year athletic master plan for the University proposing $50,000 yearly for grants in football and basketball. The football slate would include five Southern Conference games and several big-time opponents with five home games annually. Richmond would raise scholarships to 66 football and 20 basketball spots, funded by gate receipts after year four.

Cheerleaders Seek Westhampton Richmond Tryout Cast

University tryouts for new cheerleaders from Westhampton and Richmond College set for May 9 10 and 11 in the Greek Theatre. Two girls and four boys will be chosen with practice sessions on the first two days and final selections on the third day. All sessions start at 3 p.m. Eligible applicants urged to show real desire to support the Spider team.

Jane Horton Wytheville an economics major married in fall. Becky Grissom South Norfolk a political science major and senior class president. Sally Evans Lynchburg sociology major who will teach. Cynthia Katz Richmond a sociology major active in music. Gloria Wiegener Englewood New Jersey English and political science majors planning marriage. The Student Center presents an English suspense film Pursuit of the Graf Spee tonight at 7 30. Starring John Gregson and Peter Finch the movie recounts the chase of a German raider in World War II.

Weisner To Render Self Written Work

The University Music Club ends its year with two events. Today a spring picnic follows a 4 p.m. Keller Hall program, then a carillon chester at Byrd Park. Next Tuesday at 1 30 p.m. a Keller Hall Dr Jesson studio meeting will elect officers and feature Harald Weisner performing his Suite for Violin and Piano with Dr Jesson. Harald, a native German, is a music theory major.
