Fifty Two Candidates Seek Class Offices in Elections

Richmond College students vote next Monday May 7 in the Administration Building faculty room from 9 40 A M to 3 00 P M for class officers for the 1054 35 year. Nominees for incoming Sophomore Junior and Senior classes include candidates for President Vice President Secretary Treasurer and Senator across each class with Student Senate supervision and secret ballots.

Local Circle of ODK Installs New Officers

The Local Circle of ODK held its installation in the Millhiser Gym trophy room. Outgoing President Victor H. Chalian thanked the members and turned the presidency over to Fillmore Sanford. New officers include Beverley L. Britton as vice president and Professor Caylor as secretary treasurer.

Grenoble to Head Honor Council at Richmond College

New members of the Honor Council appointed by President Richard Poage of the Student Government Association held a meeting to elect officers for next year. William L. Grenoble was chosen as chairman, Billy Ballou as vice chairman, and Fillmore Sanford as secretary.

Thistlethwaite Proposes Intra-mural Plan at Richmond College

Coach-elect Glenn F. Thistlethwaite outlines an intra-mural program to be adopted at University of Richmond next year modeled on Carroll College. He proposes an intra-mural council to run inter-class dormitory and inter-fraternity contests and promises a detailed report in the next Collegian issue.

Web to Appear on Campus June 3

The 1934 Web annuals will be distributed from June 3 to June 12 after printing finishes May 30. Bob Ferrell, business manager, says the edition blends four University classes with freshmen photos included. The issue features Popularity Contest winners, campus snapshots, and a broad subscription effort led by Westhampton.

Westhampton Pageant Starts May Day Festivities Tomorrow

Westhampton will begin its annual May Day celebration with a pageant at 4 30 in the Greek Theatre followed by Lantern Night at 6 45 a marionette show at 7 30 in the Seminar and a dance at 8 in the dining room The May Queen Virginia Stiff presides with maids Grace Rowland Eleanor Hardaway Betty Burns directs the pageant with production chair Margaret Proctor The script in Balvoran by Louise Leatherland Christine Taylor features music from Griegs Peer Gynt Suite and a ten piece orchestra The Senior dance tickets cost seventy five cents for date sixty cents for stay and all Seniors are guests of the Sophomore class)

Student Center Plans Completed at YMCA Building

President Boatwright approved a committee report with the YMCA and Student Senate to establish a student center in the YMCA building by September. Plans include heating and lighting, a lounging room with furniture and a radio, and converting three rooms into one space. The project aims to welcome freshmen and may receive increased funding for magazines and reading material.

Richmond College Glee Club Chooses Officers for Next Session

Samuel Bagby is elected president of the Richmond College Glee Club for next year succeeding O. B. Falls. Fritz Freund is named vice president with Allan Lane as secretary treasurer and Sidney Swann as business manager. The club plans a two day Northern Neck tour with performances at Colonial Beach Reedville White Stone and a Jamestown anniversary event in Williamsburg.

Kilpatrick Wins University Oratorical Contest Title

Robert Kilpatrick was chosen winner after three tryouts among Milton Lenskick Leslie James and Buford Brandis. His address Murder, Incorporated advances him to represent the University of Richmond at Hampden Sydney College for the State Oratorical Contest. Judges were Dr. John Russell Dr. W J Gaines Dr. W A Harris and Dr Stevenson, all Richmond College faculty. The campus hosted its first such contest after the state event became annual.
