Jitney Players present The Murder in the Red Barn based on Maria Marten’s 1827 murder. The Red Cross Building hosts a hair raising melodrama with ghost scenes and comedy. Baptist Students Compete for $300 Prize Essay Contest
The Baptist Sunday School Board of Nashville Tenn offers $300 in cash prizes for its 1929 30 prize essay contest for Baptist students at the University of Richmond. A $150 prize goes to the top South state Baptist student for an essay on The Precepts and Principles of Christian Life as shown by Bunyan in Pilgrim's Progress Grace Abounding and Holy War. Two additional South wide prizes of $100 and $50 are also available for first and second among the winning essays.

Westhampton College Glee Club presented its first concert of the season last Tuesday in the Red Cross building. The program opened with The Spinning Song from The Flying Dutchman and featured Les Barbares a Faure French piece, La Chanson du Tambourineur, and The Drummer Boy's Song. The performance included lively renditions of German French and American music and drew strong applause.

University of Richmond debaters Walter H. Bennett and Ernest L. Honts defeated Wake Forest College on March 19 1930 in a unanimous decision on the topic The United States should renounce extraterritorial rights in China. The next day Bolling Ellis and Ger hardt Henrickson upheld the affirmative against Davidson College in a 2 1 vote. The following night Monts and Bennett lost to Duke University 3 0 but Richmond scored two victories on the Southern tour while suffering a single defeat to Davidson. The team was warmly received by Duke especially.
