Beale Elected Westhampton College Government President

Kay Beale of Sparta won the college government presidency after a second ballot at Westhampton. Jackie Gustin will be vice president. Betty Fleet treasurer. Alice Creath secretary. Officers take office April 15 under a constitutional amendment.

Westhampton Spanish magazine aims for Spain display

Westhampton College students prepare a Spanish language magazine detailing campus life and university administration. Miss Roberta Cohen and Miss Margaret Rudd guide eight students to produce articles and photos to be sent to The Voice of America and potentially reprinted for Spain. Exhibit in Keller Hall is set for April 7 with Pan American Day events on April 11.

Wise Philosopher Frost Delights Audience in Lecture Reading

Robert Frost spoke at Keller Hall as the third Thomas Lecture speaker. He said the reading would rely on poetry rather than performance, reading poems such as The Road Not Taken and Birches while noting poems contain no politics. He warned against rhyme hindering meaning and predicted reading will endure amid media age. A reception by English majors from Richmond and Washington colleges followed.

Blood Donors Sought for Red Grass Drive at Richmond

The Interfraternity Council launches a Red Grass blood drive at Keller Hall on Thursday March 20 to support armed forces. Richmond College and the Business School target 125 pints, Westhampton College 75 pints, with a 150 pint pledged minimum required.

Stone Releases SAB Rules For Alumni Center Use

Robert M. Stone, director of the new Student Alumni Center, releases rules governing building use. Hours are 8 am to 5 pm weekdays and 8 am to 1 pm Saturdays. Reservations require advance notice and may be canceled if they conflict with board policy.
