Richmond Students Shine In January Washington Pageant

Historic pageant at Fredericksburg January 19 featured Richmond University students in scenes from Washington life. Publicity director R F Nelson recruited eight six foot tall men for the Colonial army, including Taylor Sanford, Nevitt Sanford, Guy Barkey, John Hash, Elliot Campbell, Kane, Sonn Maen.

Mu Sigma Rho Plans Banquet April Fourth

At a Mu Sigma Rho Literary Society meeting the banquet for Monday April 4 at Clover Inn was planned. Major spring officers were elected including W H Bennett Jr and J D Smith. A debate on Governor appointing the Superintendent of Public Instruction featured the program with L B Dodd named best debater.

Richmond Pastor Speaks at Vespers Next Sunday

Dr. J. J. Davis pastor of the West End Branch of the First Baptist Church of Richmond will speak at vespers Sunday afternoon announced by Dr. W. A. Harris in charge of weekly worship. The subject is not yet public but attendees may expect an inspiring talk on a well chosen topic.

Chemical and Industrial Exhibits at University of Richmond

The University of Richmond chemistry exhibit is complete and will open on April 17 at the dedication of the new chemistry unit. Dr Garnett Ryland says the collection is the largest and most representative of its kind in any institution.

Class Elections Adopt Systematic Candidate Submission

The student government ordered candidates for class offices to submit names to the Collegian one week before elections. This reform aims to prevent railroaded candidates and allows a week of debate on each candidate’s capabilities. Coach Dobson then awarded jerseys to winners in class and fraternity basketball leagues.

Benefit Card Party to Aid Women's Building in Richmond

The Alumnae Association of the Richmond Female Institute and the Woman's College of Richmond announce a benefit card party at Mosby's Auditorium on March 16 at 3 P M. Proceeds support the erection of the Women's Building at Westhampton College. Reservations via Mrs. Robert Barnes Miss Mary Hughes or Mrs. M R Pitts. Participants should bring cards score pads and pencils. Home made candy will be sold and prizes awarded at each table. Spider Chantsers to Enter Richmand Vocal Contest

The News Leader and sponsors Edward D. Naff and T Eugene West announce a April 26 city Auditorium contest where glee clubs from University of Richmond University of Virginia Washington and Lee College William and Mary and University of North Carolina sing for a silver cup awarded to the top vocal club.

Westhampton Cotillion Guests Harlequins at Monument Avenue

The Harlequin Club hosts a formal dance for the Westhampton Cotillion Club tomorrow night from 8:30 to 11 30. Buses will transport couples to 1618 Monument Avenue to the designated dance hall and cards will be distributed before activities begin.

Local Pi Delta Epsilon chapter held a Wednesday meeting at 130 in Room 1 to discuss plans for the coming year. Potential candidates with campus journalism recognition were reviewed and will be announced soon. Election of new officers will follow initiations.

The Richmond Collegian will not publish this term as exams approach. The last issue appears this week. the Spring term begins April 1 with the first issue following opening day. Staff meeting in Room 1 announced new appointments and ideas.

C W Givens and L H Walton head the February honor roll with straight A grades in all classes. Thirty five men won places on the list, a number matching usual figures despite stricter requirements recently enacted.

Noted Woman Lawyer Speaks to Students at Westhampton

Madame Suzanne Grinberg, professor of Civil Law at L Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, addressed an audience at the Red Cross building, Westhampton College, on The Legal and Economic Status of Women in France. She noted her courts success in France, her unique record as a woman lawyer in Germany, and roles in the French Bar Association and suffrage movements.

Senior play cast announced for Shenandoah at Strand Theatre

The Y M C A cabinet approves four officer positions to be filled by a spring term election on the second Thursday. A nominating committee appointed by the president will select candidates. The cabinet also debates the Y building furniture, owned by the student government association, and urges cooperation to prevent further damage.

German Club Dance Set for Easter Monday in Richmond

The German Club will hold a dance on the first Monday after Easter, April 18, at the Commonwealth Club in Richmond. Music will be by the Old Dominion orchestra. Further details will be announced after the next club meeting. It is expected to be a premier social event of the Spring term.
