Artists 10 Present Musical Selections at Women’s College

A musical program at the Red Cross Building tonight at 8 30 features Miss Alberta Powell soprano Ma dame Sascha Thieleker Swedish cellist and Miss Mayia McCausland pianist. Their wide reputations mark them as top performers in the South and across the country. The event is the second in a three program series by the Ministerial Association.

True Confessions Issue Ahead for Friday at Messenger

The True Confessions number has gone to press and will be distributed next Friday. The issue focuses on satire with humorous stories including How I Became A Maid Man by Elmer Potter and work from new campus writers. Editor W. E. Slaughter plans each edition to be distinct, with April’s issue themed Spring.

Five alumni of the University of Richmond continue studies at Crozier Theological Seminary. Randolph Keefe, 25, W. R. Pankey, 25, W. R. Cuthrell, 26, N. R. Green, 26, A. M. Finch, 26, pursue religious training with most also taking academic work at the University of Pennsylvania.

On Saturday at 8:00 P M the Red Cross Building hosts the Famous Faculty Stunts drawing campus curiosity. Rumors point to costumes tableaux songs and dances with Miss Beggs credited for the operetta and Miss Withers possibly training lyrics.

Mu Sigs to Debate Pertinent Question

The Mu Sig ma Rho Literary Society plans a Monday evening debate on whether the Governor of Virginia should appoint the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Decker and Klein affirm. Dodd and Arritt oppose. Officers for spring term will be elected. vacancies in hall positions and two council representatives will be filled. An oration on prohibition by M H Pully highlighted this week’s meeting.

Harlequin Club Dance Planned for March 12

The Harlequin Club will host a formal dance honoring the Westhampton Cotillion Club on Saturday March 12. Invitations are sent and most acceptances received with dancing from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at 1618 Monument Avenue, escorts will lead couples from Westhampton.

An important Richmond College staff meeting of The Richmond Collegian will be held Tuesday at 1:18 PM. All reporters and prospective staff members should attend as plans for the third semester will be announced and promotions and appointments will be made.

Peterson to Lead Spider Basketeers in 1928

Herbert Peterson, star forward of the Spider quint, was named captain of the 1928 basketball team at a varsity meeting in Roger Millhiser Gym. A Richmond native and John Marshall alumnus, he has led the state in scoring for two straight seasons, with 226 points in 1926 and 221 in the recent year.

St Christopher’s Boy Wins Annual Declamation Prize

Fred E. Nolting of St Christopher's Prep School won first in the annual Declamation Contest held Friday in the Chapel with Ole Marster. Lewis H. Miller of John Marshall High School took second for The Great God Brown death scene. Ralph Turner of E. C. Glass High School earned third for Eulogy of Washington. Clyde Dunn of Woodberry Forest delivered a moving Last Song. Other contestants included William Mapp, Luke Sanders, and A. C. (Continued on Page 5).

Sibold elected president of local student government

R N Sibold was elected president of the Student Government Association at the annual balloting held last Tuesday in the faculty room. The close contest with Robert W Edwards kept results in doubt until votes were counted. Sibold, from Roanoke Virginia, rose from Freshman class president to Senate representative and athletics vice president, with roles in University Players and Dramatic Club. Four others were chosen as Senator-at-large from sixteen candidates.

Philologian Society Final Program Debates McNary-Haugen Bill

The Philologian Literary Society will present its final winter term program Monday at 7 15 in Room R Administration building featuring a debate on President Coolidge veto of the McNary Haugen Farm Relief Bill. Two teams will argue the issue with Marvin G Williams giving an oration and C R Minor declaiming. W S Norman and J W Kincheloe were chosen for the Debating and Forensic Council for a year.

Ground Hog Returns with Startling Vigor on Campus

The groundhog unleashed a fresh round of snow on the local campus last Wednesday, the second heavy visit of the year. Flakes reached three inches, with women in galoshes and men in corduroy attire braving the inconsistent winter, as Monax challenges the Weather Man and vows to improve his standing.

Dr Mitchell Leads Final YMCA Group Discussion

The YMCA term ends with an open forum led by Dr S C Mitchell. Three topics were explored: The Relationship of Men and Women, International Relationship, and Racial Relationship. International Relations dominated the debate as campus opinions on the other questions were voiced with vigor and logic. A Randolph-Macon College letter was read, noting principalities of its own.

Vacation Begins March 19 After Exams

Spring vacation starts at the end of winter term exams Saturday afternoon March 19 and lasts until March 28 when students enroll for the third semester. Students missing 10:00 A M classes will be fined $2.00 as in past years.
