The Boatwright Vestival of film and Literature at the University of Richmond runs January 29 to February 2 featuring writers and critics from at least 20 states and Hawaii. Organizers Betsy Cartler and Walton Beacham say housing for guests will be arranged by faculty, students, and the community.

Alaskan Pipeline Debate Grounds Students After Forum
A campus forum on the Alaskan Pipeline drew Keith Hay of the American Petroleum Institute advocating the 500 mile North Slope to Valdez route and Dr Budd Hebert of Virginia Commonwealth University opposing it. Hebert noted conservationists mostly oppose the plan but considered alternate routes via Canada. The Ecology Club sponsored the event to raise awareness and recruit likeminded students. plans include a paper and glass drive and potential future projects.

Pay Scale Boost For University Work Program
University of Richmond approves a $1.60 to $2.00 per hour differential pay scale for work-study student workers. Retroactive to January 10 for refectory staff who struck over wages, effective next semester for other students. The plan, based on job classification, requires no Board approval. Trustees had approved $1.75 from July.

Class Dance To Be Held At UR Theme Reefer Madness
UR sophomore classes sponsor a Friday dance in the Robins Center auxiliary gym with the 1930s film Reefer Madness as its theme. Melissa Kidwell cites the film title and three twenty minute intermissions. Alan Friedman helped originate the idea. Tickets cost $2 single or $3 couple and are on sale in the RO Refectory. The event runs 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

University Receives Cash Gifts in December Push
The University of Richmond announced more than 2 million dollars in commitments and cash gifts in December. President F. E. Bruce Heilman highlighted strong business leader support as the drive for Our Time In History gains momentum. Total December cash receipts reached about 200 thousand with over 600 thousand in new charitable trusts and 130 thousand from the Annual Giving Program for 1972 73.
