Class of 20 Chooses Officers

The junior Elias class held a business meeting on January Lith to elect officers for the present session. Elected were president W. McKenny, vice president B. V. Basketball Finally Starts for 1919 Team

In January 1919 the basketball squad delayed by floor issues held a candidate call. Seventeen men attended including Mottley Tribble Simpson Rucker Jotimon Street Onley Pinch Barrace Towil Cook Dunford Matthews Taylor Saunders Rudd Gy P enmnon. Tribble and Simpson returners from last year will anchor an early building phase with no exhibitions yet scheduled.

Forces That Win Night Shines at Mesday Auditorium

Students from Westhampton, Richmond College, Randolph Macon and others packed the Mesday Auditorium for a lively January 17 program featuring evangelist Sunday. The crowd, despite rain, filled reserved sections as Sunday’s sermon and impersonations, including a Lincoln portrayal, urged discipline, perseverance, and college pride.

Senior class elects Spider officers for annual project

The senior group chose W. B. Leving Jr. as motor in chief and Q. C. Trandle as business manager for the annual. Leving, a longtime Messenger and Collegian contributor, and Trandle, a basketball team manager, form a capable duo. Despite campus woes and small senior ranks, preparations proceed with data from S. A. TS. Cy and material from Westhampton Hospital.

Mu Sigma Rho Alpha Phi Epsilon Chapter Opens Program

The Mu Sigma Rho literary society, to be known as the Mu Sigma Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Epsilon, held its first regular program on a January date. The event featured readings, declamations, an oration by M. Hox, a debate on sending food to Germany, with Goode and Willingham for the affirmative and Holland and Charlton for the negative. visitors joined the session for the business meeting afterward.

Discovering a Year Meeting Series Opens at YWCA

A series of Y W C A meetings is planned for this month with one night's program to launch it. Last Thursday seniors opened the series with an engaging session led by Helen Hancock about discovering a year 1919. Classes compete to present the most interesting and uplifting efforts.
