A local screening of the film Fit to Fight was held Thursday evening at the Seventh Street Christian Church annex on West Grace Street. The event, organized by the Medical College and Richmond College M.C. Ay, drew a sizable crowd that found the showing both interrecting and idvcn tional.
The Tigers defeated Hampden 48 to 6 in a hard fought game despite rough play and injuries. Simpson led scoring and the Spider squad showcased grit with frequent drives and a late push to close the period.
Coach Marshall’s William and Mary team readies for a key second game in the champion hip series to avenge a prior loss to the Tigers. Jack Knight returns to strengthen the offense as Richmond remains in the race for the cup with a chance to clinch. The matchup is set for Saturday at 2:15 PM at the Armory with postgame music and a hoped college audience.
The Mhiliginn and Mu Sigma Rho societies held a lively opening night at Richmond College spotlighting a debate on whether it is wise to marry before leaving college. Judges favored the negative led by Mosers Northern and Simpson, with Dean Lovie and Dean Kelley weighing in. The program included oration by J. B. Mincannon, music by Miss Wlews and the Uke Club, plus performances by Miss Bessie Mae Dudley and others, ending with humor and a patriotic touch referencing John J. Pershing.
The Cortillion Club opened its inaugural program at the Woman's Club on January 24 with the Curtis Jordan orchestra providing music. Punch was served. chaperones included Dr and Mrs Handy and Mrs Armstrong among others. Several dozen dancers attended the evening though OCR list of names includes many typographical errors.
