UK Indians In Arena Tilt Tomorrow

The Spider quintet hosts William and Mary in a key Southern Conference clash at the Arena tomorrow night. Richmond’s old pro Tom Tenwick leads the Spiders with George Atwell and Spike Welsh as seniors. The Indians sit sixth in the league, W&M eighth, with last season’s meetings ending 84-55 in Williamsburg and 54-52 at the Arena.

Faculty Alumni Forum in Richmond Plans January 26 Lecture

The University of Richmond faculty alumni forum opens its annual lecture series January 26 with Planning for a Greater Richmond featuring Thomas P. Bryan James J Kilpatrick and A Howe Todd moderating Richmond City Manager Horace H Edwards will serve as moderator The series includes Russian literature revolution lecture February 16 by Catherine Pastuhova and other talks culminating March 16 with an Evening of Fine Arts. Admission is by ticket though University students may attend free. Tickets available at the Alumni Office Student Center.

University Players announce second term shows at Quonset Hut

The Quonset Studio Theater hosts a busy spring with open tryouts for University Players. The Alumni Lecture Fine Arts evening on March 16 in Keller Hall features dance art music and drama for graduates. A second production of Dark Of The Moon a folk fantasy follows with a large cast needing singers dancers and actors.

Jack Ellis Resigns IFC President Role Amid AEPI Charter Bid

Jack Ellis resigned as Interfraternity Council president at the Monday meeting citing family illness. Bert Long of Phi Kappa Sigma became president, while a motion to revoke AEPI's charter failed 5-4. Carl Demo urged the measure, predicting future success.

Junior College Gets New Home at Lombardy and Broad

The University of Richmond plans a $100,000 renovation of the old State Planters Bank building at Lombardy and Broad to house the Junior College and the non-credit Management Training Program. The site will expand from 123 to 250 students and add eight classrooms, offices, a 200 seat auditorium, a biology lab, and a seminar room, with Dean Dr. Martin L. Shoteberger and Dr. James A. Moncure moving offices there.

Professor Albright Urges Intellectual Honesty at Richmond College

UK political science professor Dr Spencer D Albright urged intellectual honesty during a Richmond College assembly discussing President Johnson's State of the Union. He defended government social programs and warned against assuming private effort alone creates progress, urging self-scrutiny and factual judgment.

Elliott Elected SAE President in Richmond

Charles M. Elliott of Richmond was elected president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at a Tuesday night meeting. Tom Glark of Arlington was chosen as vice president, with officers including Mike Bloomquist, John Rose, Ed Tomlinson, Larry Pew, Harold Woodyard, and Larry Browning. All except Glark are students at Richmond College.

Religious Emphasis Week Set for February 8 12

The Religious Activities Council designates February 8 to 12 as Religious Emphasis Week to encourage the entire university to view itself in a new light. Guest speakers include Dr James KR Seales Oklahoma Baptist University Dr Warren FP Jones Jr Stetson University Mrs Lloyd Niel Nigeria missionary and Dr John H Leith Union Theological Seminary professor. Through services seminars discussions and interviews the council aims to strengthen the university spiritual life.

Ryan Receives Two Photography Awards Tomorrow

David D. Ryan chief photographer of Concoran will receive two awards at Natural Bridge. He won first and second in the Virginia News Photographers Association 1964 color contest, with a Richmond skyline sunset shot and a dogwood branch against a blue sky.
