Westhampton Glee Club Plans January Concert

The Westhampton Glee Club hopes to hold its first concert of the year on January 28 in the Red Cross building with two performances likely. The program includes Grieg and Brahms selections, Rinsky Korsakov, folk songs, two vocal duets, a violin solo, a violin quartet, and seven chorus numbers. The chorus has twenty five voices and a radio broadcast is planned for February 3. Westhampton College songs will also be performed.

Declamation Contest at University of Richmond Under Tau Kappa Alpha Sponsorship

Plans for the annual Declamation Contest at the University of Richmond are forming rapidly. Tau Kappa Alpha for the first time sponsors the event, with February 8 set as the contest date and a second letter to more than ten Virginia high and preparatory schools to outline rules and winners from past years.

Senior privilege list for 1926 27 attendance

The faculty grants voluntary attendance for next term to seniors who earned nine Bs in their junior year and will take at least three Bs per term in their fourth year. Local University Players to Stage Three One Act Plays

Local University students present three one act plays coached by four Richmond University Players members. The show, to be staged at Red Cross House on Friday January 28 at 8 15 p m, features one tragedy and two modern collegiate farces with Elinor Physioc Leslie Jones Charles McDaniel and Lydia Hatfield guiding the production.

University of Richmond to Air Programs on WRYVA Nights

The University of Richmond will present programs on two evenings next month over station WRYVA in Richmond. On February 3 and 13 the Night of the third program is nearly complete and will feature the Westhampton College Glee Club among its highlights, airing from 8 30 to 9 45.

Eleven Religious Sects on Campus at University of Richmond

The University of Richmond reports eleven religious sects among students per G A Heslop. Baptists form 60 percent of the body, Methodists total 101, Episcopalians 79, with other groups following in order of size.

Miss Isabel Harris Attends AAS Convention in Philadelphia

Miss Isabel Harris of West hampton College faculty attends the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Philadelphia from December 27 to 31. She stays at the Bellevue Stafford Hotel, the convention headquarters, as the eighty third gathering draws attendees from across the nation.

University Year Book Progress Report for 1927

M. P. Patteson announces the 1927 Web is in advanced stages with campus views printed and proofs returned. The cover keeps last year’s design with blue and red replacing black and gold, and most write-ups finished. Athletic write-up class histories and officers remain to be compiled. payment of representation fees is urged by next week.

Sigma Upsilon Holds Joint Writers Meeting

The first Writers Chapter meeting of Sigma Upsilon was held Friday at 7 PM in Franklin Terrace private dining room. Westhampton College Writers Club members attended with H. B. Handy and Miss Grace Landrum, both English professors, to discuss campus writing interests and joint activities.

Three Science Departments Move Into New Building

The university reports satisfactory progress after opening the chemistry building. Chemistry physics and mathematics occupy the new structure with labs and offices distributed across floors. Biology remains in the Chapel building while physics apparatus are rearranged in stockrooms. Physics labs have been in regular session since January 6.

Spider Quint to Meet Indian Team Next Tuesday Night

The University of Richmond Spiders visit William and Mary Indians at Roger Millisier Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday at 8:30 PM for the 1927 season opener. Richmond seeks revenge after last season’s both games won by William and Mary with scores 30 to 4 and 23 to 4, led by captain Dave Miller.

Spider Chanters Progress On Campus Glee Club Leader Edward D Naff

The Spider Chanters, a young campus group led by Edward D Naff, progress quickly with classical and humorous harmonies. They plan several three day trips to Norfolk Roanoke Lexington Staunton Fredericksburg Petersburg and Richmond area schools. A recital is set for January 21 at St Christopher's school for boys. rehearsals occur three times weekly and chorus spots are limited.

Westhampton Delegate Reports on Conference

Louise Massey, junior class member at Westhampton College and conference delegate, gave a report on the Milwaukee Student Conference held during Christmas vacation. She cited indifference to current problems as a chief fault, noting college students are too self satisfied, a critique met with humble reception.
