Honor Roll Records Set As Term Shines

Sixty students or more than one eighth of the body earned Honor Roll status for the first term, the largest number since the system began. A total of 1386 A’s 140 B’s and 18 C’s marked the period with standout scores from S. W. Chappell J. E. Hicks J. M. Snelling and C. E. Smithers.

Alma Mater Song Circulated On Campus At Cost

A thousand copies of the Alma Mater Song by Herbert Ricker and A B Clarke arrived from the printer last Saturday and have sold this week. Local student Herbert L Delk led the sale as the copies priced at thirty five cents to cover printing costs. No profit is planned from the first shipment. The tune was composed to embody the university spirit.

Harris Attends Meetings in Chicago with AEA and AIA

Prof. Ralph B. Harris of the department of business administration attended the American Economic Association annual meeting in Chicago December 30 and 31. He also joined several sessions of the American Institute of Accountants held there.

Local students to compete in County Council Contest

University of Richmond students, urged by Congressman R. Walton Moore, plan to take part in the County Council Contest to spur interest in the County Council Movement in the Old Dominion. History professor Dr. S. C. Mitchell notes many pupils have declared their intention to participate.

Messenger Debate Promises Interest at Philologists Program

Spider Band to Play for Richmond Church Reception

The Spider Band has agreed to perform at a reception honoring Rev. Dr. George W. McDaniel, pastor of First Baptist Church Richmond Virginia, marking twenty years of his service. The Men's Club sponsors the event and the group begins preparations for a February minstrel show.

March 6 Tentative Hopkins Debate Date Set

Five Hundred Historians Attend Regent Luncheon

The University of Richmond hosted about 500 members of the American Historical Association for lunch in Millhiser Gymnasium on December 29, one of the largest gatherings during the association’s Richmond meeting. The luncheon preceded the association’s annual business meeting as members of the historical society were entertained extensively.

Ministerial Students to Hold Big Banquet

Plans unfold for the annual banquet of the Ministerial Association led by president W. C. Atkins. University To Offer Physical Chemistry Course

The chemistry department will add a physical chemistry course in the second half of the school year for advanced chemistry students who have math and physics. It will run every other year with physiological chemistry and include three lectures weekly plus at least six hours of lab work, with some sessions at the Medical College of Virginia. The course carries two and a half hours credit.

Aged Alumni ill at home in Richmond

Judge David C. Richardson of Hastings Court Richmond is ill at his Monument Avenue home. An LL B 74 he is one of the oldest living alumni and formerly led the Richmond College Alumni chapter.
