SAE Plans To Break Ground For New Lodge On Sunday

Dr. George Modlin and honored guests will break ground for the new SAE lodge on College Road Sunday at 4 p.m. Attending are Howard P. Falls Herman P. Thomas and Jimmy Sublett. The Virginia Tau Chapter's House Corporation leads the project formed in 1947.

RC House Moves Ahead With Plans

At the first post holiday House meeting interest grew for the Family Weekend with both administration and Senate offering to cover expenses. Dick Gage led decorations for the Saturday dance with Charlie Scott and his band. The Glee Club will sing at Sunday service where a prominent speaker will speak. George Vitley to report intramural program changes. The House agreed to enter the national bridge tournament. Bob Jeter chairs arrangements with Bill Deep and Bob Burrus assisting. A Vocational Guidance Week study began and a multiweek program may help. Ken Hodder announced the next meeting for Saturday January 16 at 11:90.

Jack Hall recounts Heinrichiger Kringle Germany visit at Richmond College. He describes German Christmas customs including twelve days of Christmas, decorated houses, the Christmas tree, Saint Nicholas bringing toys, and festive townsfolk with the red Saint Nicholas narrated in a playful local tone.

RF Team Members Named Luther Copeland Percy Priest and Sorenson

A congressman and a missionary along with a Baptist Youth Work leader join Religious Focus Week team next month. Rep J Percy Priest of Nashville leads the group, with Dr E Luther Copeland the Japan missionary and Joel Sorenson of Stockholm as Youth Work executive secretary. Sorenson trained at Colgate Rochester and the University of Stockholm. Copeland taught in Japan and holds a PhD from Yale. Priest earned honors from Bob Jones and studied at Tennessee and George Peabody, among others.

A hamster takes the weekly Animal of the Week spotlight in the biology building foyer. The Beta Beta Beta exhibit features displays every Monday, with Jack Payne in charge and inviting suggestions as he notes a lack of new animals.

UR Students Make TV Debut Collegiate Spotlight on WRVA

University of Richmond students debut a closed circuit variety show titled Collegiate Spotlight produced by the drama department. The program features Felice Abram Dick Gage and student acts from Varsitones Westhamptones and Jimmy Yankovitch band with a 4 sports spot and beauty contestants. Production overseen by Vaughn Gary Pat Minor director Don Burkat floor manager Joe Mathis emcee Richard Via. The 80 minute broadcast will not be receivable locally but dignitaries and station staff will view from the studio.

The WC RC International Relations Club met last Wednesday night in Keller Hall to discuss world peace. Faculty members and students shared opinions in the round table program led by club president Prof Sue Leonard.

Two attractions offered by the Celebrity Series come to the Mosque tonight and January 14. The Gaine Mutiny Court Martial adapted from The Caine Mutiny stars Lloyd Nolan. José Greco and his Company of Spanish Dancers return to Richmond after a standout first appearance last season.

Students Journey 2000 Miles Home for Christmas

Maritza and José Garrido, University of Richmond students, flew 2000 miles to celebrate Christmas in Puerto Rico. They enjoyed American Santa traditions and a Spanish Noche buena with church, gifts, and Three Wise Men customs. Other students also traveled for holidays, with some going to Minnesota Wisconsin Iowa Florida and New Orleans.

UR Scholarship Quiz Set to Launch Across State

High school seniors compete in the third annual University of Richmond WRVA scholarship quiz. District winners advance to small-group rounds hosted by Dean Gray. Winners earn 150 dollars each, with stages toward 350, 1000 dollar prizes covering freshman year at Richmond College or Westhampton College. The program totals 7000 dollars. First round airs next semester on WRVA.
