The 1931 32 session will mark the Centennial of the University. The administration urges every student alumnus and friend to send names and addresses of prospective students soon to Dean Prince Dean Keller Dean Doubles Director Seay or the undersigned. F W Boatwright President.
The Frosh game ended with local players taking the win as scoring was evenly split. Elmore led with 12 points, edging others in a tight contest. Box score details follow.
The Phi Alpha beat Phi Gamma Delta 12 to 11 in a tight game decided at the final whistle. Phi Delta Omega extended its streak by routing Kappa Sigs 41 to 18, led by Speedy Vial with ten field goals and two fouls. Whaley and Parsons performed for the losers.
Mrs. Jonathan Day of Camp Merrie-Woode North Carolina spoke at Westhampton College chapel about camp life ideals centered on beauty. She described exposure to nature, new friendships, and character growth as vital to children. Virginia Holliday, Westhampton alumna and mission school teacher in Africa, also spoke about native customs and folk lore.
A man intending to kill himself entered a neighbor’s home and attempted self harm by setting a deadly action in motion, triggering alarm and police response as investigators assess motive and outcome.
The forthcoming Christian Education Conference features speakers on foreign relations including Italy China and International relations. Notable presenters include Mr Ruggieri Italian Consul at Norfolk and YB Esiao of Shanghai. Arthur Guild will discuss unemployment with two women speakers Mrs Jessie Ames and Miss Eleanor Brannon.
