McDanel Elected President of Southern Conference

Dr. Ralph G. McDanel professor of history and political science at the University was chosen as the new president of the Southern Conference at the league’s semi annual meeting in Richmond. He succeeds Max Farrington and will be aided by Colonel K S Purdie of VMI as vice president for a one year term.

IFC Chooses Popular Band For Greek Week Dance at Richmond

Ralph Marterie and his Down Beat Orchestra will perform in the Greek Theatre on Saturday April 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a semi formal in Milliser Gym. The event, a first since 1949, is hosted by the Interfraternity Council and the Richmond College Student Government with ticket sales led by Dan Stern and George Tidey.

Richmond Debaters Sweep Virginia Invitational

University of Richmond varsity debaters won the University of Virginia Invitational with undefeated records. The negative team of Don Burker and Jim Bush went 3-0, while the affirmative teams went 4-0 with lineup changes. Nancy Day and Ken Hodder started, then Hodder teamed with Dick Via for the final rounds.
