Dramatic Authority Lectures In February

Professor George Pierce Baker of Harvard University will lecture at the University of Richmond January 31 and February 1 and 2. The talks are part of a series secured by the Thomas Foundation with College Club cooperation, marking the first year with two speakers, alongside Stephen Leacock scheduled for early spring.

Virginia Varsity Hockey Ties Boston in National Semi Final

In Philadelphia on December 1 the Virginia team from Westhampton and Sweet Briar tied Boston 3 to 3 in the national hockey championship semi final. Bad weather postponed the playoff to December 2 as Boston had hoped a win over Chicago preceded the final.

Thanksgiving Service Held at Westhampton

A quiet Thanksgiving morning worship took place in the Blue Room at 10 o clock. Faculty, alumnae and students attended the service presided by Ada Arthur with a Thanksgiving hymn, psalm, prayer by Dr. Susan M. Lough, a poem by Josephine Tucker, a solo by Emma Brown and piano by Hannah Coker. Elizabeth Williams, alumna 22, dismissed the service.

Y W C A Bazaar Lights Up Westhampton Red Cross Tonight

The Westhampton College Y W C A hosts its annual bazaar this evening at the Red Cross Building. The event signals a festive pre Christmas tradition with plenty of fun, homemade candy, and gift shopping attracting students and locals alike.

Dedication of Roger Millhiser Gym at University of Richmond

The Roger Millhiser Memorial Gymnasium dedication at the University of Richmond drew over 1,000 attendees on Wednesday November 29. Alumni and officials from the university spoke at the ceremony held in the new gymnasium auditorium starting at 4 o clock. Mrs. Clarence Millhiser Elizabeth Levy Louis Levy Lynn Jenkins attended. Jenkins created the bronze bust of Millhiser. Dr S C Mitchell opened with the invocation. Continued on page 8.

Westhampton Women Debating New Campus Activity

Westhampton women add debating to campus activities after forming a club in early fall. The first debate occurred on November 27 with the resolution that a four year course in a liberal arts program be implemented.

Attacked University Student Improves After Broad Street Assault

Tsz Lung Sene, a University student from Canton, China, was reportedly improving at the Retreat for the Sick after being attacked by several men on Thanksgiving night on Broad Street. He was walking with companions when the assault occurred.

Richmond Downs Indians to Finish U Regiment Season

University of Richmond completes its best gridiron season by defeating William and Mary 13 to 3 at Mayo Island Park on Thanksgiving Day before 8000 spectators. Captain Waverly Jones directs and Mac Mahaney shines as the team clinches the win in the third quarter.

Richmond Alumni Banquet Honors Football Team

On Thanksgiving night the University of Richmond alumni held a banquet in the Richmond Hotel dining room to thank the football squad for their strong showing against William and Mary. Colonel John Cutchins served as toastmaster and limited speeches, while Dr. Boatwright and Captain Waverly Jones praised the team and coach, with Mr. Jones present as the captain’s father.

Richmond College Pastor Accepts Petersburg Church Call

EH B. Anderson, a Richmond College senior, accepts a ministerial call to Main Street Baptist Church in Petersburg Virginia. The church of five hundred members plans for growth and Anderson has led four Petersburg Association churches for eighteen months and previously assisted at Calvary Baptist in Richmond. He begins January 1.

University Dramatic Club Delights in You Never Can Tell

The Dramatic Clubs of the University scored a strong Friday night success with Shaw's comedy You Never Can Tell. Louise Wilkinson as Gloria and W E Hatcher as Crampton led a standout cast with sharp timing and distinctive character work. Bill Chambers impressed as Valentine in a witty performance.
